I'm going to replace my OEM shocks tomorrow with some new Bilsteins, and need some help. Looking at the front shock, it looks like they will slip right out, without jacking it up or removing the tires, but I'm all to familiar with Murphy's Law. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif The instructions say to remove the tires first and raise the front end. I don't want to make this a bigger job than I have to. The rears look like they will change out without any mods. Anyone? Mac

I just replace the original shocks with Bilsteins on my 05. The shocks simply unbolt, top and bottom, and replace. The rear shocks on mine were very easy. The fronts were a little harder. You don't need to remove the wheels but I did raise the front a little to get the lower bolt in the hole on the last side. I was able to push the shock up on the first side but it wore me out. On the last side, I jacked it up about two inches to get the bolt in. Let me know if you need anymore help...Good luck. You'll love the Bilsteins. They're great.

Thanks Wilson. I'll be installing them after my morning coffee. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif I'll have the jack standing by for the fronts. I don't want to waste any more energy on these then I have to. I'm a phcc contractor and I have a full day of work after the install. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley29.gif Mac

Mac,
So how's it going with the shocks? As DWilson mentioned it is pretty easy to change then out. Rears were very easy. On fronts you do NOT need to remove tire, but will make it much easier. And use a jack on the front suspension unless you've got "huge guns" to hold the compression of the shock. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif Safety First!! Have fun and it will be one of the best mods you do for your Dmax!

wihout a doubt the best mod for your truck. I also only used a jack for the front with no tire removal and it was pretty simple. You'll love the ride difference.
Enjoy

No jack or tire removal required. Less than ten minutes for each shock in front and even faster in the rear.

Got the shocks in today. It took about an hour once I got all set up. No jack or tire removal required. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif I must say, I do like the difference. My truck weighs in at 8700 lbs with my service body, tools etc, and I can definitely feel the difference. Theres much less body roll. Rides a little stiffer but I like that. Feels more like a truck.
