Hello,
My Prodigy brake controller has worked great for a couple of years now. The other day I bought a new trailer and could not get it to work, it said that it was connected but would not read above 'o.oo' when the breaks were applied. I thought that it was the trailer but when I got home I connected to truck to my horse trailer and the same thing. The controller was installed at a trailer dealer. Anyone got any ideas, I have a trip to the mountains this weekend and don't want to have to buy a new one when I was working 4 weeks ago. Thanks for the help.

Does it increase if you slide the manual lever on the under side of the controller? Maybe a dumb question, but do you have the gain turned up?

Checked the fuse that blew when you plugged the "new" trailer in? If it was working perfectly before the "new" trailer, then something happened when you plugged the new trailer in. Check fuses, connectors, and then start to work on the wire that may have come loose. You know, the ol' troubleshooting routine.

I did check the fuses and it is a no go, I may need to take it back to dealer that installed it but it is a drive about 60 miles. I am also waiting for an email from Prodigy. so we will see. all the wires are from the controlled to the box are good to from what i can see. thanks for the replys

This is a new trailer, Is the trailer wired the same way as you old trailer. Can you plug a different trailer in and see what happens. Open up the plug and make sure no wire strands are touching from when the trailer end was put on.

I tied it on my other trailer that I know it works on and the same thing just "0.0" and I know that it worked on that just weeks prior. I have no idea what is going on.

Something to try is to pry the tabs on the trailer prong out with a screw driver .
Might not be making contact with your outlet on the truck.

This may be an obvious thing and you may know this but your Prodigy only breaks sends a signal when it needs to. So, did you get the old trailer moving to test it? If not, try it that way.

Experienced the ssame symptoms just recently. Had to make the trip w/o TT brakes :(
After I got back ~ traced wires, inspected brake mags etc etc etc
Finally, got around to the batts. This Feb was on a trip to TX and had a dealer work/service the truck and the meathead over torqued the + terms on both when reconnecting the batts. SOmetimes it would start but the radio indicator wouldn't work and othere strange thangs. What does that have to do w/the Prodigy? uncertain ~ unless the making/breaking of contact was interpreted by the prodigy chip as a intelligence or perhaps the vehicles BCU. Can't explain it but I put heli-coils in the terminals (newish Optima's w/lots of life left @@$%#&^ thet ham fisted tech) and everything smooth now. Except for the knowlege that 'they walk amongst us and procreate' me be happy.

Well thanks for all the input. I took it back to the dealer that I bought it from and had to get a new one under warranty, they said they have never seen one go bad. All is good now!
