TEST DRIVE !!!!!

Only you can say for yourself. I think you will find very positive feelings on the LMM at this board.

Got rid of my 2004.5 LLY about a month ago. Don't regret it at all. Difference in night and day pulling my fifth wheel.

I wouldnt hesitate one bit! This LMM Truck is Frikken AWESOME!!! :ro)

All my friends who drive in it, pretty much want to sell their cars and go buy one now.
Even some guys I know who arent into trucks want to go buy a new 2008 LMM GMC just from simply taking a drive in mine.

The New trucks have really come a long way in looks and design.

I'm Planning on doing it Monday. I got a pretty good deal going on an 07.5 K3500 CC/LB/DRW LTZ with the LMM. Got a pretty good trade in price on my 05. The new truck is black, never had a black truck before, but for what I'll be getting, I believe I could live with it:). Good luck.

I have no doubt the 08's will be better in some ways then my 07. But, when I pull my 32' trailer over Vail Pass, Colorado (10,000 elevation) at 65 mph.. well it's hard to think that can be beat!.. go Dmax

Good luck NC Hauler. I made the jump last Monday from my '04.5 LLY. I still miss it, but this is one awesome truck. Now to find a 5er to lash up to it......

I traded my '01 LB7 for the new LMM. The difference in power is night and day. I love the new interior and overall design. Yeah, the dpf sucks, but that's about it. This is my second DMax and I absolutely love it.

I wouldn't. I don't want any part of the new emmisions controls, including the DPF. I don't like the stylling on the newer trucks either, but to each his own. On top of all that, I only have 16k miles on my 2004.5 LLY now, and I just about got this one setup the way I want it, so I'll have this truck for a loooong time.

Which is exactly why I came here to learn... I have never owned a diesel but would like to take a stab at one. I too am leery of the numerous posts regards to the new smog equipment and so on. Only? It seems to me the (very technical) post only apply to those who modify their new trucks! What about those of us who don't have any intention of modifying any part of our truck? Do you all believe by NOT modifying the truck one could expect a much more reliable service package in the years to come?

Of course what I am discribing here are modifications to the factory power train...

I just got rid of a 6.0 ford for a 2007.5 LMM. This is the best ride I've ever owned. As far as power, it would pull my 6.0 in half.

I love my emmissions stuff. No more stink. No more black smoke. Less noise. Some people cant change with the times.

All and all, I'd say do it. 3rd d-max here also. The power and trans function/control are awesome and the new body is nice, but why did gm forget to;
leave any compartments in the dash/ overhead
rear a/c vents--wtf gm:smashfrea
cargo light?

These items bug me, as I use/used them alot in my 05 and 02, not really that big of a deal though. Truck is definatly built better than previous IMO

As per my earlier post, ended up getting sig. truck on Aug. 27! DANG!!! It's the difference between night and day, (funny, old 05' LLY was white, this one is black:D ). I put 502 miles on it, then hooked up sig. 5er and went camping in TN. First time I was ever able, and this is my 3rd. Duramax, to put the truck in cruise while towing. Used cruise going down the "gourge" from NC into TN, DANG!!! the allison never kicked down. I love this truck!! I have a little over 850 miles on the truck, and, did I say,
DANG!!! I love this truck. DO IT!! Pulled back up "the gorge" like, and I hate to hear people say this, but, "like the 5er wasn't even back there!". Emissions didn't mean SQUAT, still had more power then my LLY, oh, if the fan came on, I didn't hear it:D . It even rides smoother then my 05 dually. BUY IT, you WON'T regret it.

Well said. I agree 100%. I pulled up beside one at red light today, and all I can say is I love it. No smell, quiet but still obviously a diesel. Awesome trucks to say the least!!

This is my first non-toyota ever. I love it, miss a lot of things from my yotas but this is a bad machine. Still not big on the emissions stuff. Just another thing to go wrong and cost money.

If the deal is right I would go for it as it will be like night and day when it comes to power and hauling. I too made the switch to a diesel from an 04 2500 6.0L and I'll never go back.

I bought the classic because the deal was better, still an 07, 0% finance, I like the look better myself, and I didn't want to be a $50K + beta tester on a first run.

Having said that it comes with a great warranty so not too much to worry if your not modding it.

Well I was looking at getting an 08 3500 SRW CCLB to replace my 04 2500 CCSB. Last night on the way home in the down pour I had a guy whose front suspension in his older tahoe collapsed and he turned into me on the interstate. The entire front clip of my truck is trashed along with both sides of the bed, right front door, hood, basically eventhing in the front is wrecked. He hit the right side and pushed me into the jersey barrier. I'm thinking the truck will be totaled after the loss to depreciation is taken into account.
So, I guess I'll be getting that 3500.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I just about signed the papers on Friday but noticed that the truck is about 3" higher than my current one. My horse trailer's gooseneck is then only 5" off the truck sides (it is currently 8" now). I think that I will probably hit the bed topsides with the bottom of the gooseneck. The gooseneck in my trailer is dropped 3" to make it easier to crawl into the bed on the topside. I am looking into what to do.
