Well just found out the wonderfull news that I have a cracked block:) . I dont have a lot of money to spend and a lot of people have told me to either get a motor from Peninsular or Kennedy but I wanna try first to see if I can get a good used Block from somewhere and rebuild it with my parts. anyone know where you can find a good used or even brand new Block for these trucks any info would be a big elp thanks.

Call coldstream truck wreckers, iirc they had a couple of take outs in the $3-4000 range. 250-545-0781.They might have a block, cant hurt to check?
good luck.

I had the same problem with my 98 also, I'm going to bore a 92 6.2 block out to my standard 6.5 bore and reuse the rest of my good parts
the late 6.2 blocks iirc 92-93 shared the same block casting with the 6.5
I scored one from a local junkyard for $60
Its a 599 block from a 92 pickup it has the one piece rear main so if the rest of your guts are ok they'll fit right into it
good luck
also if you could post your date casting # it would be interesting to see and compare to mine
ck out my other post for pictures of my block

While at the shop you might have them look into a oil fitting for the turbo unless yours already has one on that block. Good score.... $60

How about not boring & keep it as a 6.2.? Fuel economy should be better,IMO

block is well used, needs bored anyway
i'm going to have it magnifluxed first before any machine work begins
main differences are that, oil cooler fittings are 3/8 npt on 92 vs 1/2 npt on 98, oil sending port on drivers side behind head vs in lifter valley on 98 block, and of course no oil squirters for cooling
