well my warrenty is almost up on my 03. i have approx 73k on the truck and i want to take it to the dealer to have some stuff done to it. few of the things that i noticed are the idle fluxuates at idle; fprv is my guess. i also noticed that both pass and drivers side valve cover gaskets are leaking. oil pan gasket also seeps a little. from what i understand these are covered under the warrenty. is there anything else that i should look for or have the tech look for? i would hate to have something go tits up right after the warrenty ends. thanks

Unless you have purchased some sort of extended warranty I dont believe the 5yr/100000 covers any type of seals or gaskets. I could be wrong though.

Almost up? You have 27,000 miles to go, so that gives you about 2 years base on the year and milage you have driven so far.

I am with Dieselmania, I think what little problems you have were only covered under the 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty, except for the FPRV, I Think...

I will trade ya my 03 for yours! I only have 178,000 miles on mine.....

The 5 year part is almost up! Mine is up in October. I don't think it cover the gaskets either.

Yes the 5/100k does cover seals/gaskets. just look in your light truck warranty info book.

I forgot about the 5 year part.............It did not come into play with my truck.

i figured the gaskets were covered. just wondering if them leaking/seeping is enough to get them replaced?

i wish the 5 year didnt count because it would take me a while to reach the 100k! it should be either or!

what ever is under warranty. if you have the time, i think it would be worth it in the long run.

i dont mean to be a dick but no shit! im just trying to think of other things i can get them to do while its still under warrenty. those 3 things were the the ones i noticed. im trying to think of ones that might not be as noticeable.

service consultant said he would need the truck for 2 or 3 days to replace the gaskets and do the fprv. does that sound about right?

well this is what i found out. i paid the 100$ deductiable and they fixed the oil pan gasket. scanned it with a tech 2 and nothing was out of spec with the fprv. they did not do the valve cover gaskets because they were "sweating "

they did add a dye to my oil so if it leaks they can detect it and i wont have to pay another 100$. will this dye effect the longevity of my oil?

Oil base dye doesnt hurt anything, military uses it for the same purpose, but it has to be oil base and not water based..
