Hello everyone. I know it is hotter than normal everywhere. but my AC use to put out really cold air all the time. I would have it set to 71 and 2 bars and have more than enough cold air. now I have to set to the air to max and turn it to 60 and recirclate, and it only goes down to 59* (center vent reading) my wife yukon same settings reads 41* same outside temp and egine coolant temp. the Chevy place has had it twice this week replaced 3 Actuator valves and now the head unit with very little if any improvement. pretty much told me today that was as good as it gets. when I asked them why my wife yukon (same ac) was so much colder and I know mine also use to get colder they said something about it being a diesel. which is BS since the ac doesn't know what is powering it. please tell me if you could what your center vent temps are with AC set to max and Recr. also tell me your outside temp. Just want to know a little more info before I go talk with the manager. thanks in advance.
There is a a/c performance chart in the service manual, ask if they followed that chart, if they did and its within spec so be it, but if its not within spec, then a repair is required......also a rule of thumb is 20 deg of off outside temp, but thats not written in stone...

thanks KGT I'll ask them if they used the chart and if I could see it. But it still doesn't explain why it was colder before and my wifes is cooling away with extra if needed. anyone else?

I have had my truck into the dealer for the exact same problem twice and it has not fixed the problem. I told them about the tsb for this and they said it does not apply because it is an 05. They drain and evacuated the system, verified the charge and added a/c dye. My 05 gas z71 crew also blows 40-41*. My duramax is lucky to get 60* I started to get warm feeling sitting in my truck today. Went down to the dealer today to take the service manager for a spin but he wasn't there. I just want this truck fixed right the first time. How can a technician let an obvious problem like this go unfixed? I am a tech myself at an independent garage and it pisses me off large that these guys do not care at the dealer. I would fix it myself but it is still under the bumper to bumper warranty. Does anybody have any suggestions or help? Thanks:o:

I can tell you for a fact that Area Service Managers from GM will look at the diff between outside temp and inside temp and if its at least 20 degrees different they will not allow any further repairs to be made (at least in So. Cal). I've seen it, fought for a customer on this same issue and lost. Same thing happend at the GMC dealer down the street so I know that it just wasnt my dealership that was having this issue. I know that humidity plays a big role in A/C performance and also correct me if I'm wrong but the A/C temp should be checked while the vehicle is moving an not just sitting in a stall or on the service drive.
Just my experience, doesn't mean it's correct.

Your pretty close to what you're saying, to the best performance out of your a/c. Have the blower fan set on the lowest setting, Vehicle moving/driving, the a/c system can only handle 30 degree max. differential temp. . The higher the the humidety the less efficent the a/c will become.
since this is not a perfect world, we can not exspect perfection.
If you have two green apple's, I garantee you that they will not taste the same. Same will apply to machine's, a/c, engine's etc. .
There is a allowable tollerance and if it's within those spec.'s then their is nothing that they'll do for you. Most tech's are looking for quick fixes and don't want to spend the time or even care nor have the know/how to do better than what they have to.
It could be as simple as cleaning the condensor in front of the radiator, due to dust, dirt and or bug's. Or at times as difficult as having to calibrat the controlls, evap. temp. sensor etc. :banghead:
So nuff said, hope this is putting things into perspective for you......

So, if it's 110 outside, a customer is suposed to ride around in a 90 degree vehicle? That don't make sense. Even my '98 does better than that.
