It doesn't get cold that often here in Texas, but since it has now started to get down to 40 and 50 I have noticed my truck acting a bit differently.

Is it better for a diesel to let it warm up to temp before driving or what? Since its gotten cold I have noticed hesitation and turbo bark.

My first diesel so I don't want to make stupid mistakes.

Turbo bark shouldn't be caused by the cold, that sounds like an Edge problem to me.

As for cold weather, I like to let diesels idle for a few minutes to warm up as much as a diesel will in cold weather at idle (not a whole lot) and then drive as easily as possible until the water temp and trans temp are up to normal ranges. But 40°-50° isn't cold by my standards. The main thing I would avoid is "rodding" a cold diesel.
