: Anyone Photos of a 3500 Dually Dura w/Plow?
Lawn Care Plus 08-23-2007, 07:11 PM I am about to get my 07 CLassic GMC 3500 Dually Duramx set for winter. I am pretty much getting the Western MVP Pro 8.5'.
I was told on plowsite though, that the 8.5 would not be large enough to cover the dually's so I may go for the MVP9.5.
Also looking at the backrack with center light, and two radio antenna's, one on each side, for two radios.
I have a snowex 1075 pivot pro for the hitch reciever.
Anyone with photos of a similar set up with photos that you will share?

addicted 08-23-2007, 08:35 PM This probably doesn't help much, But here is a picture of mine.
A guy I plow with has a ford dually with a 8' plow. His isn't wide enough but he never has complained.
BTW: Plowsite all the way.

Weeellll,
How big is the plow, and what did you have to do to the front end to beef it up, if anything?
I am trying to get a handle on what I am going to have to do to put a 9.5 MVP on my truck?
Thank you.

I crank the t-bars and that's it. I have had it 3 years on this truck plowing commercial and not a single problem. It's 29" tall and 8' wide.

Would you recommend me adding timbrins to my truck with the 9.5 plow?
I understand they would replace the oem stop bumpers.

I would recommend it. That's going to be a pretty heavy plow, so you can't go wrong with a little added cushion. I have thought about using Timbren's myself. I know alot of guys that use Timbren product and are very satisfied.

What do you mean, "All The Way Up?" or is that just a figure of speach to say that I should not do without them?
Any photos of your dually w/Plow, etc?
Thanks again,
Tim

DetroitDan 08-24-2007, 11:00 PM Since a dually bed measures 8 feet at the outside, an 8 foot plow will have your outside rear tires in the snow almost all the time. Any angle and the snow is piling up and going under one wheel. An 8.5 will give you a whole 3 inches to play with on either side, again once you angle it you are way under 8 feet. 9 feet is the minimum I would even consider, but I'm at 10 feet now and not going back. I have a Blizzard 810 powerplow on my dually, I absolutely love it! Best plow I've ever owned, more productive by far than anything else out there. Talk to somebody who has one next time you see one on a truck. Or check out the videos on their website.

Dan,
Have you ever had a V-Plow? or are you comparing the 810 to other straight blades?
The blizzard is a great plow. I know someone with one.

Philbilly2 08-25-2007, 09:20 AM Alright snowplow prep-season starts earlier this year! I have a 8 1/2 Plow, no duals, but you can see in the picture how wide that sits. Now mind you this is stright bladed. When you angle, i don't know if you will stay inside your tracks. I run green keys on the torsion bars and a 100 fuel tank w/ +or- 800lbs of tractor weights as a balast. This also allows for plowing in 2wd. Also, firstone makes aire shocks for the chevy front end. Don't have them yet but soon. This might be what you need for a 9 1/2ft plow. What is this plowsite you speak of I'm very interested.

I wanted to get a V-plow after my buddy rescued me with his, I had a job I just couldn't do with my 8' straight blade. He was able to cut through a long low driveway with a foot of snow on top of 6 inches of water. I think for UP and upstate NY where they get huge snow totals the V is the way to go, if only for the ability to pierce through snowbanks. That beats my Blizzard hands-down. But not an issue where I live (except that one time mentioned above)
My biggest concern is getting the plow wider than the duals, and clearing lots fast. The problem with the V is as soon as you fold it either way it is getting narrower. Mine gets bigger, and the tricks you learn with the wings lets you carry so much snow, without losing hardly any. Everyone who has watched my plow in action comes away impressed.
Ideally I would like a big V plow with power wings. I'd call it a "W" plow.
ockgator 08-28-2007, 11:17 PM While you're out plowing I'll be popping a cold one at my pool. Have to say my Uncle in Vt. loves the stuff.
I know... off topic but looking at snow makes me shiver
nextlevel38 08-29-2007, 05:45 AM I wont have anything other than a v-plow with the snow we get.. funny how many times in a huge storm my trucks get called to open up the roads for other people.. that have straight blades
