Why don't you call that dude that makes the Stars and Stripes ones, and
have him do you one up? That would look pretty sweet. . .

While you're at it, change to those clear cab lights. . . Darth Vader,
baby!!!! That would look sweet! You gonna hafta update your
pics after that, too.

I think the place was www.roostfest.com (http://www.roostfest.com/) and leave Walter a message or something like that. . .

All you need is some SEM Adhesion promoter and can of Black Gloss paint. Pop off the emblem, unless you don't mind overspray, spray on the adhesion promoter and mist with a light coat of paint while the adhesion promoter is still wet then let it all dry. Once dry, you have a great base coat for additional coats. You can lightly sand with 600 grit between the coats until you have it where you want it.

I think you're only gonna find SEM at the auto paint store, but BullDog makes one too and I found some at Wal-Mart. The SEM is what I've used, but I've known a lot of P&B guys that have used the BullDog.

I used this to paint a Chevy emblem on my S-10 to match the rest of the truck and it worked great!

You should mask off the outside edge and just paint the inside black. That would look pretty sweet IMO.

Here's what I think it would look like:

If you wanna make it two tone, I would do the black first with adhesion promoter, then mask off for the silver and don't forget to scuff it. Once you spray the paint over the wet adhesion promoter and it dries, its bonded to the plastic, sorta melted in I would guess. You only have to do the SEM for the bond coat.

I tried painting mine without it after scuffing the plastic and I could just wipe the paint right off, but once I shot it with the SEM and the paint, it was good to go. I was using a two stage paint, base coat-clear coat, so once I got a good base on there, I sanded it lightly for the final base coat then cleared it. Its held up fine for 3 years and a cross country trip!

If you use a can, then its a single stage so its easier and you may or may not want to do more than two coats. Consider that since its in the grille and exposed to bugs and debris the more the better in my opinion, but three coats would be the top I should think.

Oh yeah, you won't need a spare, its so easy it almost paints itself!

Good luck!
