So we just bought a 1/2 towable toy hauler and towed with our Tahoe a couple times... the 5.3L just was not enough to pull it and fuel economy,,, krap...

So off to the Duramax. I live in GA so had no use for a 4x4 and managed to find a used 2004 2500HD LS 2WD with 121k miles on it... Kind of Rare to find the 2WD and it's what I wanted... (Ebay) and I bought it.

I've not taken delivery yet as I have to wait until it gets trucked from Texas where it seems most of these things live...

Now for the question... it's an LB7 engine (mfg 10/03) and I've been reading the injector threads, since it's an early 04 I guess the 200k warranty is dicey to count on and it seems that the injectors are the service item on these trucks.
The dealer offers a warranty on the truck and I can upgrade it for a few hundred bucks to cover the truck (and injectors) for 2 years (up to 175k miles)
I think it's a good deal and just wondering on thoughts... if you have any.

Thanks,
Erik

Do a vin check and see what's been done to it, If anything. If it was me I would change all the fluids upon delivery just a piece of mind. Drive and enjoy it:D .

My truck is an 03, and put into service 10/03, and it was bought off of Sleezbay out of Texas, and it has been GREAT! other than having the emmissions crap on it, and coding the P0404 light for the emmisions crap, it is outstanding, I just hope the 2WD does not come cack to haunt you, I thought about the 2WD VS 4WD thing long and hard, and everyone I talked to said GET the 4WD and guess what, I am damn glad I did. I go off the beaten path often, so it has helped me a few times. But on the bright side, you will not have the pump rub issue in the transfer case!

Good luck with it, and let us know what you think of that Duramax!

And Welcome to the site, it will help you out with any questions you may have, just fill out a sig, and tell us alittle about your truck so we can help in the future!

Thanks man...
This site is really great, did a VIN check (thanks to the gent who replied) and the truck looks to not have had injectors yet so maybe that is in my future but I did get a warranty with it and it does cover injectors (maybe not 100% of the cost but a big discount would be really nice if I need it)

I expect delivery in a week so we'll see what it looks like when I get it.
I'm hoping for some of that 18 to 20mpg stuff that is impossible with my Tahoe's and to be able to haul the trailer with decent mileage is something I'm really looking forward to.

This is our first Ebay vehicle purchase and I wish I found this site before I bid on the truck but hopefully it's going to be a good experience and not one I'll regret. Other than the injector issue I guess the truck should be pretty solid and the LB7 engine sounds like it's not too bad as well. Looking forward to it and keeping a positive attitude!

I'm sure I'll be asking all the dumb questions that every noob asks when they get into this Diesel thing. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Get the extended warranty, it is well worth it. That seems to be a lot of miles for an '04 so good luck with the truck and welcome to the site.

Mine was my second vehicle purchase from Ebay, if you do the homework, and check out every possible thing, and ask every question you can think of, it always has been a good find for me.

Last purchase was a 1979 Formula Firebird all origional from Van Nuys California, second owner and had 117,000 origional miles and had it delivered to Charleston SC total price 3500 bucks! I sold it a year later to down payment my my house here in Florida, sold on Ebay for 5500 bucks.

I hope this truck treats you as well as Mine has treated me!

Some thing to watch for is SOME extended warrenties in fine print specify ships you ahve to go to and only cover say 45 bucks an hour labor rate which youll never find a shop to work for. Also some ext warrenties if you read the fine print say used parts may be used. Warrenties are only as good as the underwriters.

Also the warranty also may state that they can install USED parts if needed, and you have to use a ASE certified mechanic, and the 45 dollar hour rate is applicable, you will be stuck for the rest. I had one of those types before, so I just save my money now if needed.

I hope you did not get this type of extended warranty... just my 2 cents
