i was at a stop light today waiting in traffic i get ready to take off and let out on the clutch just like i always do and the truck dies, so i think well guess i got a little careless and killed the truck, i turn the key real quick nothin happens, i try again this time i give it a little gas still nothin, so by then im feelin kinda stupid with a mile of traffic behind me. since wev had trouble out of the truck before we placed a switch under the dash that kicks the fuel pump on, i flipped the switch and hit it again and it cranked right up. since it pulled this before iv got a pretty good idea of what it might be, but i just wanna get some of yalls input before i do anything

A bad PMD is the only thing that I now of, that causes stalling and hard/no start.

However, the lift pump can be checked easy enough. Just open up the fuel drain while your truck is running. If after 30 seconds it stalls and dies, you need a new lift pump/ops combo.Edited by: Juancho

Im guessing could be several things, simplest/cheapest stuff first:

Air filter

Vacuum in your tank (need a vented cap)

Fuse for the fuel pump (im assuming you bypassed the harness)

Clogged fuel filter

Crud in the lines

OPS is going out

Lift pump is going out

Fuel pump going out

PMD is dying....

Just some things I would check up on.... so do you have the switch on the fuel pump or lift pump. If lift pump I'd guess OPS is on the way out. If fuel pump I dunno...

That's pretty trick. I have to get out and open the hood to pressure up the fuel system and I've had to do it more than once.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

I'll bet it has more to do with your truck being a manual tranny. I never stall the autotranny (ever!) but I'd pop the clutch at the light on my NV4500 and stall at least once a month. I know I don't talk much about the '93 but that is changing. I ordered the front retainer(local GM stealer calls it the input yoke) It's the spindle the throwout bearing rides on and I deceided to lift the engine out of the way on an a-frame instead of dropping the tranny again.
