Good post. Some $$$'s are being spent here. Looks like the Banks Dodge Cummins Truck might have some competition.

So what kind of trans do you think they will put behind it?

After reading the article, that is the first thing I asked myself as well.

Who said the lly would never have a bigger turbo and would be limited in the horsepower department? This should shed light on a lot of issues. LB7 or LLY.

OK, I'll comment since I've seen it but was asked to stay quite until they released the info. The truck will be running twin turbos. I don't recall what trans but I don't belive it was the Allison. Part of the reason is that the motor will be a dry sump with a custom oil pan that will allow the motor to sit as low as possible. They have also been playing with some different piston designs. The motor will actaully be detuned for reliablilty. The major hurdle they had to overcome was the rocker arm tips. The factory brazes these on and in high rpm/heat situations they like to break. Overall though, this should be exciting to see. A LOT of research is going in to this and I personally expect this thing to surprise a lot of people on its first couple of runs, let alone after the bugs are worked out!

Where are they going to be able to race this? I'd love to see
something like this in NASCAR truck series but I wouldn't think the

Why build a road racing diesel truck for endurance races? How many diesel truck owners attend and watch endurance races?

Yup.... I guess Banks must think the Aero advantage of the Chev slihouette is not worth the major aesthetic sacrifice.

Hopefully the biggest pay off of this will be better availability of
performance parts. Hopefully these involved companies will put all
this R&D into products to be sold to the public. Maybe by the time I
pay off my truck they'll have a bunch of stuff out there. Of coarse at
the rate I'm going, I'll only have 130K on it then, it may be hard to
justify a complete tear down...

Just an FYI. GMC donated the motors, that's why the GMC front end.

I've seen both trucks. The pro stock truck was Panellas old PST truck. Don Ness Swing arm suspension setup (TRICK). As for trans, I believe it'll be a lenco setup. Plans are to use a gear reduction setup.

Mike you know as well as I do that Banks tuning leaves lots to be desired. If they can make 900hp I am sure more is to be had.

And remember than is on an engine dyno, so no driveline reduction. subtract 20% from that 900 and you get 720 estimated rwhp. Don't we have trucks over that with STOCK internals? Yes it is making big numbers but with all the trick custom internal parts/rotating assembly and the custom twin turbo setup it should be making more. Edited by: Carbon04

I'll be down there (Banks) early next week. I'll see if they'll let me get some pics of the two trucks and some of the other dmax pruducts their working on. Last time I was there (4 weeks ago) they had dmax engine parts all over the place.

That truck is bad ass. Do you guys think the twin turbo D-max will fit under my hood?

OOHHH and did you guys notice they said it revs out at 5000 ******ing RPM. I mean holy sh*t, thats what ....1200RPM more than are motors and u wonder why they aren't going over 700hp and 1000ft and the 900hp 1000++tq street version is supose to rev even higher than that. Think about that for a second.

WOW!!! Although I own a GMC and prefer its front end to the Chevys sometimes I get the feeling that I'm the only one who actually like the Bowtie front end. Am I blind or is it really that bad?
