: Power Service Diesel Clean - anyone use?
Mark_my_word 11-11-2004, 04:24 PM I can't find Stanadyne anywhere around me but Walmart carries Power Service Diesel Clean. I've seen people in other places say they use it and ar happy with it.
I never saw any reference to it here. I know a lot of people here use Stanadyne.
I Tried doing a search but it looks like search is not working. I was just curious who uses it and what they think about it.
NewD-MaxLLY 11-11-2004, 06:58 PM PM Socaldieseltech, he can probably find you a dealer.
Or try this:

Good luck.

coyotekid 11-11-2004, 07:42 PM I've used Power Service Diesel Kleen with good results. My mileage improved slightly (.4 to .5 mpg). While I can't really prove that it is working, I don't have any complaints so far. Besides Diesel Kleen, I've used Stanadyne Performance Formula and FPPF Total Power. I haven't gathered enough data to prove this yet, but it looks like the FPPF is giving me the best milage increase. Also, it's the cheapest! You can supposedly treat 240 gallons with one bottle that costs me $5. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the three I've mentioned here.
ldand 11-11-2004, 07:55 PM I am trying to find Stanadyne also and no luck. I am in the SW MN area, does anyone know where it can be found in this area? Also have been looking for Mobil Delvac synthetic oil and am having the same luck. It is getting cold here and I am thinking of switching to synthetic, either Mobil or Shell and can't find either one. I now have 8500 miles on my lly and love it.
Kendall69 11-11-2004, 08:58 PM ldand - if you want Mobil, the MOBIL SUV is the same as Mobil
delvac one. I went round and round with Mobil and they proved
to me that the formulas were the same
SaguaroKid 11-11-2004, 09:21 PM I was once told that Jonh Deere diesel additive is Stanadyne.

Mark,
I have the same issue here and I also use Power Service. I also made contact with a rep from PS which gave lots of info on their product. I've been using it regularly since I purchased my Dmax in Jan. 04 with no problems. At some point in time I will try Stanadyne to see if there is any difference other than $$.
Mike_in_Wisc 11-12-2004, 07:50 AM Another vote for Power Service. Have used it faithfully since truck was (and still is) new last March. Couldn't find the Stanadyne that GM recommends in owners manual, but Wally World has it without a doubt no matter where I am at. The biggest thing is no matter what brand you get, make SURE it has "NO" alcahol alcahall alkahol BOOZE http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
jetboatjockey 11-12-2004, 09:07 AM i dand, try delo400 synthetic 5w 40. chevron. same as mobil, 2/3 price. i use it in tractors pickup car 3 yr, no problems.

nak-nak 11-12-2004, 10:44 AM I'm also using the Power Service year-around formula + cetane boost. Part # 1041. No complaints.
precision37 11-12-2004, 12:09 PM I've been using Diesel Kleen in the warm months and regulal Power
Service Diesel sup. in the winter. They both work fine. No problems in
53,000 miles.
Mark_my_word 11-12-2004, 01:16 PM I've seen a lot of people say that Walmart carries Stanadyne but the one near me doesn't carry it but they do carry Power Service. I have found a distributor in the area that has Stanadyne but its more expensive and not a convenient to get as the Power service.
Since it looks like there is not a big difference between teh two I'll go wit the power service.
Thanks, for the responses. Man I love this site!
Maxtech 11-12-2004, 04:36 PM We have tried most all the different additives in the last 30+ years in the HD Diesel business and can tell you that as long as it meets the Cummins N14 spec as well as Lu.1822 spec. you are good to go.
Now as far as the little stuff....(Medium duty and pickups) we have seen VERY good results from Power Service (both the Summer and winter formula) and when "leaning" on some of our test Duramaxes that extra 6 points of cetance works outstanding!
We stock the PS in quanti**** from 55Gal to quarts and it flies off the shelves.
JohnnyO 11-12-2004, 08:37 PM I get stanadyne from here:
http://www.dieselpage.com/additive.htm
I like the way it works.
DWilson 11-12-2004, 10:06 PM Around here in No. Cal, Wal-Mart does not carry Stanadyne. They do carry Power Service in big quanti**** however. I buy Stanadyne online.
DLAnderson 11-13-2004, 07:57 AM I am using Power Service now for over two months. Bought my first bottle at the stealership for twice what Wal*Mart charges, you know, just in case they claim some problem in the future. I love the stuff. The engine runs more smoothly, with more power, and increased mileage. How can I complain.
lewbraz 11-13-2004, 04:06 PM Has anyone used arenol, not sure on spelling, I know UPS uses this in there trucks,
dchilders 11-14-2004, 10:13 PM I buy Stanadyne here:
http://www.blueridgediesel.com/specials1.htm
I buy 5 gallons ($110.00) and they will ship it to you. 5 gallons should work for about 45,000 miles. Easy to order and I got it in about 5-7 days or so. I called the toll-free number on their site and paid with my credit card over the phone. Real easy to do business.
I use it with every tank. I store in a smaller bottle in the truck and re-fill from the 5 gallon pail. I get about 1 mpg more while using it. I figure the small improvement of MPG is good and helps toward the cost. If it helps clean the fuel sytem, that is just a bonus.
TNRGreene 11-14-2004, 10:27 PM Get mine the same place, had mine in 3 days. Cheaper then I could buy it local. Edited by: TNRGreene
JJs DuMax 11-15-2004, 08:39 PM I've run Power Service, seems to quiet the engine some and idle smoother. Not sure if mpg's improved. FWIW. JJ http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
