Tried to do a TDC and now the throttle is super sensitive. You can barely let off and it feels like it is just shutting down. Really noticeable on cruise control and you start to go down a small hill. It starts to try to feather out and feels like it is just bumping the throttle and then shutting it down a time or two a second. RUns great with the vac pump actually working and the PMD replaced.

Are you getting the check engine light while powering up hills and such? You will see the fuel solenoid code, DTC 36 if it's the fuel sol.

No codes at all. Shifts harder from 1st to 2nd. No other problems. Pulling the trailer (31' Holliday Rambler bumper pull) the sensitivety wasn't noticeable. Has a lot more power than it has in a long time. Able to maintain 70 mph in a 20-30 mph head wind. Looked at the exhaust today and there seems to only be a cat and no muffler like the other 6.5s that I have seen. May replace it with pipe. Has 3 inch from the cat back.

Going to pull it from Wichita Falls to San ANgelo tomorrow. Hopwully all will work out well. Wish us luck.

Overly sensitive pedal without a code? The only experience where I had a overly sensative fuel pedal and loads of power and the tranny shfted neck cracking hard was when the failing fuel solenoid in my old pump had a broken retaing screw. It was stuck in nascar mode.
a competent fuel shop can put on a new one.

It only started doing this after the relearn. By fuel selinoid are you meaning the PMD? If so, I'm taking an extra just in case.

I don't know if you read the other post where I suggested you advance the pump 1mm to the driver'side and relearn. The this will help take up an slack in the timing chain.

Fuel Solenoid is the actual solenoid in the head that starts and ends each pumping event. The PMD is the driver that amplifies the signal from the PCM to operate the solenoid and reports performance (CTIME) to the PCM.
Overly sensitive pedal is one of 3 things, wornout/broke Fuel Solenoid, Failing Hi Res sensor, or TPS problem, in that order of likelyhood.

Anyone have a pic or illustration of the fuel solenoid exact location?

The "fuel solenoid" is the end of the Injection Pump where the Injector lines come off of. An overly sensitive throttle can be a result of the PMD failing if the SES light doesn't come on. This is a rare failure. Try slowly bringing the RPM's up in neutral to about 2500. If the RPM's continue to climb with no additional throttle it's the PMD. I replaced one last winter with these symptoms and it's still making money with no issues today.

The two nuts in the center circle are the contacts for the F sol.
