What's going on everybody? Right now i'm in the process of trying to buy a Duramax Diesel, and was just looking for some information if anybody could help me. My biggest question is about the injectors. I've read that these years have a lot of problems with the injectors and that up to 200k mi. they are covered under warranty, does this also apply for buying one used? Does that warranty transfer with the new buyer? And lastly i was wondering if anyone new about the life of the Duramax. The one i'm looking at right now has 89k mi and has had regular standard maintenance and was just wondering about how much life i could expect to get out of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GM specs the engine as 200,000 mile but many are going well past that...over double in some cases. Yes the special policy on injectors goes with the vehical to any owner unless the truck is salvage title. Known issues are pump rub leak on the transfer case and injectors.

My 03 is at 178,000 and going strong, and there are a few farmers around here that have well over 200K and I asked them if they ever had the injector bug bite, and they said "what"?

Buy it, you will love it, there are a couple of folks that have run into bad luck with theirs, so do a VIN Check on here, in the home page of the forum, and it will give you all the service info the dealer has on the truck.

Mines at 172k+ been towing 12klb for the past 15,000miles and get-14-15mpg. Had injectors replaced at 97k. Great trucks! Get helper springs if you are going to tow alot though.

Im at 345000 ,4 sets of injectors,water pump,new turbo. Not bad considering the mileage. Mine runs like new still.

2 months ago I purchaced my 2nd Duramax(02) with 221000mi. on it. It drives better than my first one(01) that had 131000. This one was a one owner that had an Edge Juice (90HP) since late 2002 and pulled a 5th wheel camper all over the USA. I have service records from several states. I now have a PPE Xcelerator (220HP) installed and the trans shifts fine.
