The truck is box stock with no programer, it will not pull my 25' wellcraft over 60 without trying to go into passing gear, noooo power! I don't have any check engine lights or codes coming up,I'm new to this truck.I do know it has about the same power as my 1/2 ton. I want to find out if there is something wrong with the truck before I spend a whole bunch of money for mods trying to cure something else.

How many miles is on the truck? Sounds like it needs a fuel filter if it has no power. Also going 60 mph thats about right mine goes into OD at around 60 sometimes before if im easy with it

 mine doesn't.....when I had a loss of power it turned out to be a fuel filter. But it could be a simple issue of fuel pressure regulator. Take it to the dealer, have them to put the tech II on it and have them check the injectors rates and rail pressure. Dooes it smoke any, do you have fuel in the oil? check these items as they may lead you to the problem.

Thanks for the replies,I really do appreciate it,but I just want to know for sure that I don't have a problem before I start throwing good money after bad.I went through a whole lot of work with my wife's vw tdi, listening to good thoughts, catyletic converter, injection timing, turbo, filters, intake clogged,ect...about four days of afternoon work, when the only problem it had was a bad mas air flow sensor( took 10 minutes to change). Somtimes it just pays to have somebody with the right equipment to test things out.I've turned wrenches all my life for a living, just hate to pull parts just to put them back. Darrell

Took truck to the dealer today, they said the fuel pump will not build over 8000psi.,code p0089,p0102. Just wondering, will the truck even run on 8000psi on the rail or they trying to get me for 2500.00 dollars?

Other than the apparent loss of power, do you have any other symptoms like hard starts warm or cold, long crank before starts?
If the rail pressure is not making it over the 8000 mark, could it be high return rates bleeding of the pressure without those other symptoms?

Engine spins over about 5 times consistantly, then starts, hot or cold, could it be a fuel pressure regulator?,just sounds fishy to me.This is why I need a reputable person to give me a better opinion

At 170,000 miles you have to expect to spend a few dollars. My bud who has had a flawless truck until 198,000 miles, just got bit with the T/C rub and a FPR in the same week.

Maybe one of the dealer techs could chime in regarding 2500 for your repair(s) Is your dealer talking FRP and Cp3 or what?

Doug

I don't mind spending the money for the parts but I cant handle $1200.00 dollars labor when I can change it myself. It was showing poo89 fpr,po102 maf check (this was probably me when I cleaned it). the mechanic said the pump would not build over 8000 psi and it needed an injection pump. $1082.00 for the pump, $24.32 for coolant:eek: , $1235.00 labor. I found A new pump for A good price, just need to know if A new pump from GM comes with the fpr?
