: Am I missing anything
LBZ Guy 08-21-2007, 08:25 PM After doing ton's of research I have decided to take the plunge and order a programmer for my truck. Here is the list of what I have ordered, my truck is still stock for now:rocking: .
Diablo Predator
MBRP XP series 4" cat back exhaust
MBRP 5" dual wall tip
Pillar Gauge pod with boost and pyro Gauge
Transgo Jr
LLY boost stick
EGR blocker plate and finger stick.
Is there anything that I am missing? I am not worried about fuel mileage I am just looking for better throttle response and a little fun with out tearing my truck up.:driver:
LBZ Guy 08-21-2007, 08:45 PM I hope so, You're review on the predator you borrowed was one of the ones that helped me decide on it.
Unit453 08-21-2007, 08:48 PM Did you read my review on the PPE vs. Predator?
If not, I vote for the Predator...For $300, you cant go wrong...
LBZ Guy 08-21-2007, 08:54 PM Yep yours was the one that sealed the deal for me. You guy's did a great job.
LBZ Guy 08-21-2007, 09:20 PM Those picks will be very helpful, Did you buy that add an amp fuse adapter somewhere or did it come with the gauge? Hopefully I can resist the predator until everything else is installed. I already have the transgo jr and new filters now I just have to run to the Allison dealer to get some transynd.
The predator, exhaust, and gauges are all coming from performance truck products and the boost stick and blocker kit from Kennedy. The exhaust install looks easy, and from what I have read the transgo should not be hard. Hopefully I will have a busy weekend.
NCexRider 08-21-2007, 09:44 PM Where's the best place to purchase the Predator online?
Unit453 08-21-2007, 09:46 PM There's a bunch of vendors here who sell them. Extreem diesel and Thouroughbred diesel are two that I know that sell them for $300.

You're going to be shocked at how much fun will come in that box when it gets to your door :D
I hope so, You're review on the predator you borrowed was one of the ones that helped me decide on it.
Hey man thanks! I'm glad i could do something to help you!
I was shocked, i mean honest to goodness apolled at what a 2 pound colored box could make this truck become.
I started out on the 'tow tune' drove it around town. Then i pulled over in the mall's parking lot and stepped it up to the 65hp. I was shocked at how fast my Alli learned. You have to be easy on the 4 + shifts, that's where you'll get the limps I've read. I had a temper tantrum one night and held it to floor to a pretty high speed and had NO issues on the 65 hp tune.
My favorite tune was the 40 horse for towing - it also made me feel 'safer' haha. The 65hp tune made my truck sound the best i thought (at idle i thought it sounded a bit deeper), the 85hp was a total kick in the pants, my gosh it would run. I could smell a bit more exhaust on the 85 tune than any of the others.
The only time i got smoke was on the 85 tune, and it wasnt 'SMOKE' it was a 'haze' after babying in for a couple days and then right before it shifted hammering it.
I never went the 120 tune, although there are quite a few people on this board that have w/ stock trans...
Oh and it may say on the DIC you're getting 22 mpg... Don't get all excited like I did (thanks for ruining it for me, Nick...). The DIC wont read correctly anymore, so miles until empty, miles per gallon, and gallons used will no longer be accurate. I saw a 1.5 gallon difference from actual to what the DIC said when i hand calculated it and filled it up.
One of my other favorites was 'real time' data. It was alot of fun getting to watch all the ECM parameters and stuff while driving.
I hope you have a blast, and if you need any help w/ the gauges I put a bunch of pics in my garage and labeled them...I hope it helps!

Actually you can get them at autozone. Another thing i had to buy to install the gauges was misc wires, wire taps, and electrical tape and heat shrink.
In my case i had to buy a gauge fitting for the boost tube hose.

I ordered mine form performance truck products, he is a vendor here it was $329.00 plus 10% off and free shipping.

I have a bunch of misc wiring supplies but I have never seen that add a fuse before, I am going to have to stop by auto zone tomorrow.

Sounds like thats it, but the disease will not stop, good luck and have fun.
LBZ Guy 08-21-2007, 10:12 PM How do you like you mbrp with the cat delete? Have you had any warranty problems with it being removed? I almost went with that but I am worried about voiding my warranty.
Unit453 08-21-2007, 10:17 PM I wouldnt worry much about the warranty. Its all up to the dealer. I ran an MBRP 4" catless system on my 04 LLY and never once ran into a problem by not having it. Of course, I never went in there for any exhaust related job either...
It depends on how loud you want it. A cat back system to me sounds awesome and is barely louder than stock. Its nice and throaty and will certainly drop EGT's when towing. Removing the cat will make it alot louder.
RayMich 08-21-2007, 10:19 PM Now that you've added performance enhancers, you'll want to add other accessories to improve durability.
MA Transfer Case Pump Upgrade Kit (http://www.gmdieseltech.com/store2/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=16343&category_id=317)

FarmerJack 08-21-2007, 10:29 PM One thing to think of is a bigger fuel pick up in your tank and bigger fuel lines and once you are done with your mods make sure to go over everything making sure it is tight especially your innercooler hoses I just helped a buddy install a edge system on his truck and we blew the innercooler hose a mile down the road luckily it was just a loose clamp but it was a pain to get back on on the side of the road

Ohhh, and you'll want a wire tap for the headlight dimmer (14-18 gauge, it's a tiny wire - it'll make the lights come on in the gauges when your lights go on... it's a nice feature :D )
This is what the add a circuit looks like... It's pretty simple http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-FHA200BP-Fuse-Add-Circuit/dp/B0002BGELQ
I also forgot to tell you it's the MINI blade fuse Add a circuit...

Now while both of these guys have a point, the bug is addicting and you'll just want more don't get bumbed out.
You've bought yourself plenty to tide you over for quite a while ;)
Although, the tie rod braces are a must for 4x4 launches if that's your sort of thing.
dirtymax07 08-22-2007, 01:07 PM Defenately beef up the front end if you are going to play. Better to be safe than sorry with an expensive toy!
redneckbuckeye 08-22-2007, 05:00 PM How do you like you mbrp with the cat delete? Have you had any warranty problems with it being removed? I almost went with that but I am worried about voiding my warranty.
I have had no warranty work done(knock on wood) except a taillight replaced. I do like my mbrp system minus the cat and muffler, its not to loud unless you stomp on it.
LBZ Guy 08-23-2007, 04:28 PM I hope to add the secondary fuel and oil filters by the end of the year. I did not even know about beefing up my front end, I would like to get the sleeves and support system before I up my tire size. I should not have to modify my fuel delivery system with such a mild tuner should I? Thanks for all the input.
LWATSON 08-23-2007, 06:49 PM Your fuel system will be fine with the Predator, but if you are going to install an extra fuel filter down the road you may as well do a lift pump kit with the auxilliary fuel filter built in.
LBZ Guy 08-23-2007, 09:28 PM I came home from work today and hoped to see some boxes on the front porch but I had no such luck. You would not believe how happy i was when my doorbell rang at 6:30, my UPS guy was running behind today and he had some goody's for me.:rockit:

The first thing I did was load in the towing tune on the predator and went for a ride. Boy am I happy to get rid of that throttle delay, the tow tune gave it a little pep and makes the truck drive the way it should of the day I first bought it. I am going to wait till I install my gauges before I run any other tunes. My gauge pod must be back ordered because I did not receive it yet. After my little test drive I ripped right into the exhaust, the mbrp system was alot easier to install than my borla was on my T/A I was done by 8:30. I like the sound but it is alot quieter than I expected. I am going to see how I like it but I may have to kill the kitty:evillol: .

I can't wait to get everything else installed so I can crank up the power.

I did not think of doing that, I was looking at the nicktane kit.
Jasondt2001 08-23-2007, 09:38 PM Man that thing is Purddddyyyyyyy!!! Congrats on finnaly getting it, i know the wait will kill you. I LOVED that 40 horse tow tune.
Go ahead and kick it up to 65 and drive sensibly and enjoy. The EGT's fly up in 5/6 gears so you can still enjoy it before you get the gauges.
I wouldnt tow with it at all until you get gauges though.
Honestly I dont think you're going to hurt anything on those tunes as long as you're driving sporty and not all out - yet :D
I had gauges and dont remember backing out of it till about 55/60 mph before it shifted to 5th and and I was still safe.
Just use your head brother :) You got the exhaust on now and i wish you coulda seen my gauges when i was running stock exhaust, normal driving the catback lowered mine be 150 degrees, i was really happy.

Why did all the data not work correctly anymore? I am wanting to get a tuner to calibrate for my new tires, and a little extra ponies, but don't want to loose the datat.

I don't know why it is affected by the tune but I can tell you if you calc you mpg on paper right now you will see your DIC is not even accurate with the stock tune

:thankyou2 I almost put the 65 tune in after i finished the exhaust but I decided to eat dinner instead. I might play with the 65 tune tomorrow at work. I really wanted to put the gauges on before the exhaust so I could see the difference but the exhaust showed up and the pod did not and I could not resist that big box.:weld: Thanks again for all the advise

The DIC sees a stock fuel amount being injected at what throttle point you're driving at... The tuner actually manipulates the truck to put more fuel in the cylinders. Since the amount of fuel goes on a calculation rather than physically metered that is why it is incorrect.
