Hello, just out of curiosity, after you hang the cooler, have any of you had trouble with rocks/road debris smacking and or denting the fins? I was also wondering if anyone has put the air dam back on and cut a couple of holes and put some type of screening (ala NASCAR) or would that deflect too much air down and away and serving no purpose. Thanks in advance

Scott

I put the air dam back on my truck, no holes yet. I plan on building a stone/bug sheild for my intercooler and making some holes with screens in the air dam. I have a couple of properly sized fans, boost actuated switch, and a relay if things are not cool enough when I get the truck back together. Before I worry about that I gotta get the truck back into running shape.

I went from 240f intake air temperature to never above 150f with my setup. That is with the air dam installed and no fans helping air flow through the cooler. Some of the other guys have left their air dams off and ended up with lower intake air temperatures. There is way too many grasshoppers here to run without the airdam.

My truck sits pretty high. I have had no damage to anything up front yet.

I haven't had anything hit it. It has been on for about 10K miles.

Whats the approximate core size of Kennedy's IC kit?

Thanks guys. Jason, how are you taking the air temps? I have the standard triple gauge set from SSD and it only had EGT, boost and tranny temp. Where do you have it mounted?

Usually people get their IAT's from a scanner. I don't know if that's where he's getting his, but that's how most get it.

Mines been on a year, not a mark on it & i drive plenty of gravel roads etc. I still have air dam on & my max temps are around 150 on a scanner too. thinking about cutting holes in the dam or taking it off, but it cools pretty good as is.

It's working fine now, I started having some issues with some remote servers I was working on and then noticed it was my network connection.

All is well: 25"x7"x4.5" <- happy camper now...

I got my intake temps from my scanner. I was seeing 240 on a flat highway towing 9000 lbs. at 65 MPH on a 100 degree day. After intercooler towing same load I am seeing 109-114 on a 100 degree day. I don't think I have seen much above 160 yet with intercooler. And I am running a peak of 15 PSI of boost and 5-6 cruising.

I am using my laptop and the OBD-II.com cable and software.

Scanner? Must be a 96+ thing. Mines a 94. But hey, as long as you guys are seeing a hugh drop in IAT's, I think it would work fine for me.

Coin, there is a guy on another site with a 25" X 12" X 3". Said he got it on flea bay - got the polished tubes and silicone unions there too. Quick math says 12x25x3 gives 900" while the other 750"

thanks Scott

I'm gonna break out my TIG welder for this one; probably snag a ~24" wide core and make some wacky endtanks to see how tall of a core I can squeeze in. I want to try and have a 2.5" inlet and 3" outlet in the same orientation as KD's, but with the endtanks reversed to the inlet/outlet are towards the outside of the IC vs. the center (too close to the crank pulley for my tastes)

I'm going to do solid IC piping out of mild steel and just use some hump silicone connectorsat the IC, compressor outlet and intake manifold.

I got a 24x12x4 bar and plate on ebay for like $150 2 years ago for my Supra and it was actually a pretty nice piece. I even pressure tested it underwater in my pool and found no leaks, surprisingly.

Or buy this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250155428835&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:Watchlink:middle:us

Weld the 3" outlet closed and move the 2.5" inlets (and make them an inlet/outlet) to face the correct way and fab up 2 brackets...pretty painless actually.

why not just go ebay stores and look up just intercoolers they had decent ones for around $70 plus shipping and the 3" tubes/unions for about the same price. Why mess around? I think it even came with hangers.

When I still had the 6.5 in the truck I used a smaller i/c than most.
Mine was a 18x12x3. Even while towing the temps were always around 120.
When empty on a cool day they could dip below 100.

It seemed to be an easier install with the smaller core and I got the i/c for around 75$ off ebay.
