What does the term reflash mean? I keep hearing about people getting their trucks reflashed, or specific components done, but I am not familiar with what it actually does.

Thanks!

If you go to the dealer and have say....a surging problem at stop lights, they will take their TechII and reflash a different program to you ECM. Usually, free of charge.

So this is only if there is a issue, and not for preventative measures per say??

basically it is upgrading your trucks computer software with the newest software calibrations. hope this answers your question as to reflash and what it means.

Almost..........lol

Should this be done as routine (eg, yearly or every couple years), or just if I am having problems?

The dealer can reflash it i guess for a drivabilty issue. The racers reflash with EFI Live in an effort to custom tune the ECM to deliver fuel etc to better fit larger turbos/cams/injectors/CP-3's when they want it, not when a programmer tells it to deliver. EFI Live is infenitley (oops) adjustable. IF you want it, it's not for the computer challenged IMO, I would suggest McRat he provided great service to me.

It's the only way to fly.

It only needst obe done if gm makes an upgrade to the software. depnding on how much they do this is how often it should be done. Should be free at the dealer.. It may help durability and mpg may not, many people dont get the updates if they arent having problems and are just fine.

How true this statement is!! Kind of like upgrading your laptop to a new operating system.....I am happy with XP, and can't imagine going to Vista.
