I am looking at 295/70/15 Toyo MTS on either 17x8 or 17x9 rims. On toyos site they say the tire is 33.6 inches tall and 11.5 inches wide. Will the 17x8 give me a bit more height than the 17x9? I would rather have more height than width but dont want to break out the hack saw.

I think you should go with 17x8. I personally don't like the fat tire look.
Here is 17x9 diesels on 295 toyos. I think it is a good look just would take height over width.

This is off topic but Pro Comp has new wheels in black chrome that look really good. Might help....I dunno.
Ranger- Those exact rims I am looking at (made it to the top 4 list) in black with a chrome lip. Now black chrome would be sweet. I will see if I can find them.

They should in theory give you more height, but it would be very marginal. You would gain more with higher airpressure.

wouldnt the skinnier rims pull the sidewalls down and would end up reducing height?
or is that what you said and i just cant read (good possibility)
in theory it is oppisite. Skinner wheels will give you more height. Fatter wheels will lay down your tire closer to the ground. One inch is not much of a difference. Going from a 17x8 to a 17x10 is much more noticeable.

Yeah, I didn't mention the price. Maybe in the future they will come down or maybe there will be one of the four for three deals. I dunno.

I don't even think that 2" wheel difference would make a measurable difference in height. It might look different, but I doubt it would change much.

How much do those stick out beyond your fenders? Are you just leveled out with t bar cranks on the front? I really like the look of that set up!
not my truck. But I would guess it is a 17X9 rim
