Trying to decide if I should give it a try, it is currently 3 cents a gallon cheaper. Thanks in advance. Brian

If I could find it for cheaper!!! than diesel, I would buy a few hundred gallons of it.

Pro's: Cleans your fuel system, better for environ, truck runs
smoother, much better lubricity. Possible better mileage.

Cons: May plug up your fuel filter, but with your truck being an 03, I
doubt it. Only happens when it gets used in high mileage cars
with a lot of crap in the tank/lines. Thats about it.

Most of the time, B20 is at least 15 cents more per gallon.

Make sure that the fuel is properly certified. ASTM standards.......

Let me know how it goes.

Ditto what Manny said--I run it most of the time since new on my truck--here it is about 20cents more per gallon.

I think Ohio might have additional state tax incentives.

I recommend a sample of the fuel be sent to George Morrison at AVlubricants--a site sponser. This should give you confidence to run the fuel.

Good idea Ron.

What blend do you run?

Mainly B20--but I have tried B100 one tankful from the supplier in Ventura who has at the pump.

I then splash blended B50 with some extra I bought.

I noted a small drop in MPG--but it was too small to say it was due to the B100. Truck ran fine on all blends.

I plan on running fuel test on all three suppliers: RTC in San Diego--B20 at the pump. B20 Itl-Cudahy. And B100 TBrown oil company Ventura. I have the kits from George.

They are on my list of things to do--it is a long list.

There is also a retailer in Escondito that has B100 for 3.41, untaxed.

I have heard that it is a bit risky to run b100 in the Duramax due to
the possibility of polymerization. Sounds like you had no
problems. Im not sure if the poly problem was due to high
injection pressures, or bad fuel...

If you do ever get that sampled, loet me know how it turns out, will ya?

Manny,

From what I have read---there are those running B100--no problems--but maybe too small a sample size and they may not run it all the time.

Key for me is water.

I will post results of the tests.

I wouldn't worry about that too much if I were you. There have been some reports of straight vegetable oil contamination causing gelling in the lube oil, but I have never heard of that with the methyl esters (biodiesel). Even the reports of this happening with SVO are few and far between. If it isn't cost prohibitive and is ASTM-certified, there is no reason not to run it.

If it isn't cost prohibitive and is ASTM-certified, there is no reason not to run it.The new Biodiesel specs of ASTM D 6751 are for use as a "blend stock" for diesel fuels and not as a fuel itself.

I have been running B100 from tbrown in Ventura and itl in Cudahy with no problems in my 96 Suburban 2500. My milage went from 19 to 18 mpg a gallon. I am purchasing 55 gal drums from itl which makes it easy to fill up at home. Steve

10-ton,

I see you're in Franklin. I'm in Springboro, so we're neighbors. Where did you find b-20?

Just FYI, I ran some B-2 from that truck stop at exit 36. I normally run Meijers fuel with the Schaeffers additives.

When I ran the B-2, I could not believe how much noisier the engine was.-:t Also, it felt like there was a noticeable reduction of power.

Don't know if it was just a bad tank of fuel or not. I was sure hoping BIO ran better than that because I was really wanting to use it.

I live off exit 36. I've only ran the bio a couple of times , but, I got it at the Lykin's Shell on that exit which is pobably the same as you. As far as I know it is the only bio in the area. When they first started selling it the advertisements were all over the pumps and outdoor signs, so I asked the guy at the register inside about it and he told me it was B20 and seemed to know all about it. Thanks for the tip I'm going to do some checking tomarrow.
