I just got my used 05 c4500 c.c. D/A 4x4 and its an LS. I have owned various LS/LT Silverados and I was wondering if any of the 4500s come equipped with some of the options mine is missing. Such as some of the options I have grown to appreciate in the pickup trucks: auto headlamps, retained Acc. power(keeps the radio and other stuff on after you pull out the key for 20 or so minutes) driver information center, keyless entry, security system, fog lamps, mpg computer, onstar, auto locking doors after you reach 10mph,oil life indicator, navigation, low fuel light, air bags, steering wheel controls, auto dimming rear view mirror with outside temp/compass etc. Just curious if these were avail in 05 or now.Although I really like my new to me truck I just think these things would be a lot nicer if they were equipped like the pick ups,and so easy for GM to do.

Some of these options you can install yourself
auto dimming rear view mirror with outside temp/compass=Gentex
Keyless entry=Good alarm system second party type
alot of what you wanting is controlled by a BCM and 4500-5500 does not have one

Yeah I sort of figured that about the BCM. I am familar with the Body control module and without it it def simplifies the whole truck (for GM). I at first used to have trouble with them with all the programming/communication issues between the BCM and PCM air bag module etc. when I used to swap around parts while rebuilding salvages etc but I sure like all the little things they provide. I was kinda hoping they had it available on more optioned out trucks. Maybe because its based on the Express platform it can only have what is available on an Express? Oh well its just that its been about 7 years since I have actually had to turn on the headlites and lock/unlock my doors myself! Funny how you get spoiled on stuff like that!

Air bags
Oil life indicator (of sorts): change oil dummy light comes on.
I miss those things from my Silverado too.

I had installed a Pioneer avic z2 that has nav, plays mp3 etc.... xm, back-up day/night camera also 15 inch dvd player plus self locking clifford alarm all for under 4k. I chose this route instead of dealer installed saved $$$

Thanks for the info I was crawling under the dash last night and I found the remote electronic box there. So I will need to go to Chevy and see if I can buy a key fob. I wonder what it takes to program these more simplified versions. I need to get an owner manual! Oh well I guess I will just have to think aftermarket for this truck. I still love it. I. I bet if someone made an alarm type system that did auto headlights speed sensing auto locks Retained power auto dimming int lights and security plus some of the aftermarket stuff like remote start and remote roll down windows etc all in one it would be a good seller.
