Heading to a stealership tomorrow to look at a 2005 extra cab with the duramax diesel. Anything in particular I should be looking for? Were there and problems for the year that I should be aware of? Anything at all I should know about that you could tell me so I have some info going to the dealer tomorrow would be great. Thanks.

If it's white, and originally a California truck, don't buy it.

It was mine before. It had a hard life.

:D

Drive it for 20 miles on the freeway and in the city to get it up to temp. Oil pressure should be at least 25 at idle and 55 at 70.

Divide the engine hours into the miles and see it's kosher. I think most are averaging 35 to 45 miles per engine hour. Mine is at 42 miles per engine hour.

Is it leaking fluids? Has it been in any accidents? Pull a carfax and see.

Make sure it has been re-flashed with all the current updates, mine ran a lot better afterwards, had it done twice. Good Luck!

Check the tie-rod ends, mine were shot at 20,000 mi.
Had towing mirrors changed twice, vibration.
worried about the injector harness prob.
Other than that the trucks great.

front hubs take a beating if used a lot, also the rear rotors dont like a lot of dirt and abrasive material, but still one nice ride....painter

Bought my 05 2500 HD SLT new and currently have 40K miles on it . Pulled 21 foot toybox to tip of Baja and back twice. It loves the diesel in Mexico. Great truck so far. Sold my 1992 1500 to get this truck. It's a beast when pulling trailer or boat. Good luck

I bought my '05 2500 HD SLT new and love it so far (40,000 miles). I've hauled my 21 foot toybox to the tip of Baja and back twice with no problems. It loves the Mexican diesel (still only $1.90 a gallon). Haul my bass boat all around the state of California and still get 16 mpg freeway. Check the oil change frequency records and if they have been using a good fuel filter(Wix). Good luck

I bought my 3500 SLT and love it tow a 36 foot 5th wheel and don't know it ias there most of the time. Once I get the air ride 5th wheel I am sure it will be even better.

You might ask, it looks like it's had a snow plow on it. Since the front bumper has been cut out. Good luck!
