does anybody know which duramax does the 05 4500 KODIAK 4X4 HAVE.. SOME SAY LLY W/310HP&605TQ-----BUT ALL SPEC. SHOW 300 HP&520TQ.. ISN'T THIS SPEC LB7???????

Look at the VIN# 8th character. It will be a 1 or a 2.


Maybe they are the same as the 2500/3500 trucks........


Or look under the hood........the LLY/VVT turbo is a lot different then the LB7's.


Given a choice I would get a LB7.

I can't find out.. The dealer does not know, hell the dealer can't even
figure out the warranty.. Every question I have asked about my
truck has essentially been ignored. I am told by one location
that the truck is 300hp, by another that it is 310, that the torque is
either 520, 605 or 650. One place swore blind it was 710.. So I
do not know. I have a mass of questions about the truck,
upgrading it, and generally living with it, that I cannot get answered
anywhere. It is very frustrating - it is as if the truck is a massive
secret, and I got it by accident... nobody wants to tell me
anything. I have 4 emails out to GM, and a further 3 to dealers
who claim to know everything.. Nobody has answered in a week.

I know this is from last week, but if you happen to come back and look at this, all '05 C4 and C5 trucks have the LLY motor. But the calibrations in the pcm is the similar to the LB7.


There are two different rpo calibrations for the horsepower curves,


LRY: 210 @ 3000


LRX: 300 @ 3000


But the torque cal is the same for both,


520 / 705 @ 1600


If you post your VIN of the truck I should be able to find which cal you have for the motor.

I believe the monroetruck.com site may direct you to more info.. I can't remember which one it was... Not to disagree with anyone, though I pulled up all the specs earlier because I had the same question.. I found only one site stating all the 6.6 duramaxes were currently LB7's.. I looked at them last night in crew cab form with a dually bed.. Strongly considering trading if I can transfer my performance parts from my 03 2500..

I just saw where others say it's an LLY... Maybe I'm mistaken as well.. Don't know..

If its an 05 model year , its an LLY, the different horsepower ratings are for an automatic or manual trans.

I actually work in the plant. The LB7 went away for 05. All 05 trucks have the LLY.
