: another stacking question
bigbird 11-09-2004, 07:30 PM I have spent a lot of time on the search function but can't seem to find the answer to my question. I have an 02 dmax with a 90 hp juice and a suncoast 3 as of tommorow. I want to stack and am torn between the predator and quad 110. money will not allow a bigger tune at this time. My question is which stack would run cooler? I have read alot about timing issues on here and that is my main concern. thanks
White Duramax 11-09-2004, 07:34 PM Well since you have a transmission you are probably going to want to go bigger in the future, so I would go with the Quad as it can be upgraded to more powerful tunes. The Predator you are only going to have the 120 tops, no higher. As long as you have gauges I wouldnt worry about whether the Predator or Quad will run cooler. Timing will be fine also. Many have stacked the 125/145 juice with the 215 Quad.
Jim659 11-09-2004, 09:54 PM Anybody have a link for the quad box?
Predator runs pretty hot, and adds noticeable timing, even by itself...
ratlover 11-10-2004, 09:35 AM Or save your cash for awhile.......
Option 2 is go for a hot juice upgrade. Its pretty ballsy and very driveable.

bigbird 11-11-2004, 06:59 PM i have one other question. i realize that the edge has to come out to install the quad or predator but do you have to take the edge out if you want to change things on either of these tuners after installation?
FASTOYS 11-11-2004, 08:03 PM Whoops !!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif I didnt take my Edge out when installing the Quad tuner or changing it . No adverse affects that i saw except the look on that Mustang drivers face. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
gmccall 11-12-2004, 08:57 AM I am using the Quad 215 with Attitude on 0-2. I run Quad on 215 and Attitude on 0 all the time. I can move Attitude up to level 2 and receive a little over 20hp. Anything on Attitude over level 2 and I get bursting. For the record the Attitude on 0 (Quad on 215) gives me over 25 hp on the dyno. The stack works to about an additional 45hp for me. Your 90 hp Juice should be perfect with a Quad 215.
For the record I just tested a new Bully Dog XXX version with nearly the same results as the Quad box. Your choice.
bigbird 11-12-2004, 10:48 PM yet another question. Do you guys run a stack for daily driving or just for playing? Would a mild stack like quad on 110 edge on 60 be safe for towing or would egt's become a problem?
ratlover 11-15-2004, 09:35 AM I run my TTS in the extreme setting daily(except on the highway since any high HP tune flakes out the cruise controll and makes it really hunt, and sometimes in bad weather) My Extreme is switchable so its pretty easy.
I dont see any reason to stack a small program like that. If you want a bit more grunt you would be better off and probably cheaper to upgrade your juice to having the baddest setting they have. Its very nice and drivable and I would bet makes more power than a 110 quad/juice.
Then save your cash and possibly sell off your juice to buy a meaner program yet on down the road.
Do you have the attitude controller?
White Duramax 11-15-2004, 11:09 AM You could buy a Quad 110 cheaper than you could upgrade a 90hp juice to a hot attitude. I would say the 110 with a 90h juice would make just as much plus he can always get the bigger Quad tunes as money permits.
ratlover 11-15-2004, 12:01 PM I think I paid 200 or 250 to get mine upgraded. Call edge or one of the vendors and tell em what you have and that you want edges highest hp program and ask what it will cost to either exchange boxes or send your box to them and have em rezap it. You dont have to have the attitude to run the biggest juice offereing if you dont want the attitude or want to pay the $$$ for it.
Or he could save his cash and sell the juice and run one program instead of buying another program to stack with his current juice to get to the same power levelhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif. But I'm bias twards TTS and am anti stacking.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif Arnt most that are stacking running the hot juice stacking with the hot juice? I cant rememberhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif??
Sorry to not answer your question and try to sway you in another direction but like I said I am a bit biashttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif
White Duramax 11-15-2004, 07:42 PM Rat, to get the 145 you are gonna have to pay $349 to edge to get the attitude which takes it to 125 then another $200 to get the 145hp level.
bigbird 11-15-2004, 07:43 PM can I buy the 145 juice without buying the attitude?
bigbird 11-15-2004, 07:47 PM thanks white duramax you posted while i was typing.
ratlover 11-16-2004, 09:10 AM call John Kennedy and or edge or any other vendor of your choice and ask how much $$$ it would cost you to put a 145(rated) version on a non attitude box. I wont say you can do it since edge has stoped doing things before and then i looked like a jackass when they changed policies on me, but there were comp boxes out there well before the attitude came out. If they wanted to they can put all 30 hp levels on the juice box and nothing else. Its all if they still want to.....
Looks like from your sig you already bought the quad though. Happy stacking!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
Oh.....and BTW, i towed a dakota once with the juice set to kill and watching my gauges I was fine, but it was pretty flat and I'm nutshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley29.gif
bigbird 11-16-2004, 09:36 AM I am trying the quad for a month and then making a decission. I like the power but the injector rattle is quite noticable. anyone know how hard this is on the injectors?
ratlover 11-16-2004, 11:06 AM The injectors arnt making noise per se. its cumbustion noise. Remember how the old diesels sound? just fuel not being injected at the most opurtune time IMO. And if anyone gives you crap(sp edit: its crap not carphttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif) about adding HP makes it sound like that or nature of the beast or something like that....no setting on my juice never made noise and my TTS dosnt make noise even on the extreme setting. Just isnt as refined IMO. Lotsa people run programs that are a bit noisier than others and havent blown anything up yet I guess so maybe its just an anoyance?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gifEdited by: ratlover
