I just ordered a 5'' aluminum set up for my LLY from DPPI, is anyone using this setup? I haven't heard anyone talk about the 5'' yet.

I thought that 5" wouldn't fit on a D-max becuase it would coem to close to the Trans. Return lines and transmission... MY 4" barely fits..

Guess they figured it out.. I guess ti might sound a tad better but i think its over kill unless your running twins... Or are severaly built and stacked w/ injectors..

Hope it arrives in better shape and fits better than the one I just received and installed. It is quiet, but the quality of the parts left a lot to be desired. It was aluminized. I have seen the stainless and there was a lot more care taken to the manufacture of it. Mine also hangs way too low with brackets provided. Oh well, another piece of junk for my parts pile.

I've got a 4 into 5 exhaust from JK. All the parts fit very well and the bends are precise. There is some leyway built into the sytem so you can fine tune it to your particular truck and it comes with the nice band style clamps. I did have to tweak some of the OEM hangers a bit to get it to sit where I wanted it, but when you increase pipe size by 1.5" something has to give. Install took less then an hour including removing the OEM system. It is 4" from the downpipe to the muffler and 5" from the muffler back. I still have my spare in place it there is room for a bigger one. Shock is not an issue either. Long bed guys have choice of mufflers, but due to space, short bedders have to use the smaller muffler. No fancy polished bling bling on the end of it either, just business. Real trucks dont need chrome tips.. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

I sent MBRP a direct email asking about their 5 inch exaust available for the LLY, and their response was

"I am not aware of a 5" system. You could try Kennedy Diesel, they may have a 5" system".

So I guess I will have to wait and what exactally shows up. I didnt get to talk to Mark at DPPI, so I hope I get the right exaust.

Before I purchased mine last month. I asked about the 4" versus the 5". MBRP explained to me that if I was going to propane to use the 5". If I am just going to use high power modules to use the 4".

I was told by a fellow Dodge Cummins owner, that no matter how big you go, you'll want bigger.

9W3-HD,

MBRP does NOT have a 5 inch system, we sell 5 inch systems made for us by another monufacturer, buit it is not MBRP. Folks get 5 inch systems for two reasons as a general rule, they are at or over 500 RWHP and need the extra flow CFM or they just want the biggest baddest system available for their truck. Kind of like you're statement here "I was told by a fellow Dodge Cummins owner, that no matter how big you go, you'll want bigger."

Propane or module/programmer etc it doesn't matter it is the total HP produced for you to need the 5 inch system for operational needs. Hope this helps.

Would a 5" system make it sound deeper on a Duramax? My 5.7 sounds like a boat with a 454 in it with straight pipes on the boat. I almost think sometimes when I see the 4" it doesn't look any bigger than stock (I know only1/2 bigger). I would want something that somebody wouldn't be like, is that the stock exhaust with a crome tip on it?
