I have searched through everypage in the tire and wheel section trying to find information about the nittos. i got an exelent price on a set of 285 75 16 load range E at $651 out the door. But i dont want to invest my money in a tire that is not going to get good milage out of them. your opinions on the tire would be greatly appreciated Thank You.

They're a good tire and wear evenly. Of course you'll have a handful of folks say they suck but take a look at there signatures.. 600hp this chip, stack with that chip and nitrous! But everyday driving a some offroad they are fine.

i had 295/75/16's. there is a pic in my garage. they are great tires.but not too good in mud. and wear fast. my truck was stock when i had them.

I had the Nittos for a while. I had no problems with them wearing quickly, but I kept them rotated and properly aired. I also ran them on an H2 wheel, which would probably help with the wear as compared to the skinny stock PYO wheels.

I was told, keep in mind by the competitors, that the Nitto was an approximately 20K-25K mile tire.

i appreciate all the replys i got on these i started looking at the BF allterrains but the price on them is really crazy so I am still leaning toward the nittos but some more input on these would still be wonderful.

I had Nittos, I had BFGs, and for my last 2 trucks as well as my wifes Tahoe, Coopers all the way. Got 50,000 out of my last set before I sold the truck. Great milage as well as great off road ability. 285/75/16 Cooper ST

Had some BFGs A/Ts on my old ZR2s...things lasted 50K easily. The price isn't crazy if you can get double the mileage.

I had a set , and it was on a 2000 K2500 5.7 and they did wear fast. they cleaned out well in the snow, never had them in the mud to much. I think they are a softer rubber that maybe why they seem to wear quickly.

Currently running 285 BFG AT's on Weld Stonecrusher 17x9's. I like them and have 20k on them. The Stonecrushers came off my older Gas truck that was also a 2500HD and I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on them. I liked the look of the Nitto I thought they had a really cool look to them. They lasted me 32k. I frequently have a heavy load in the truck so I tend to never get the claimed 50k that some people have gotten on tires. Before the Nittos I had BFG AT's and I had no trouble getting 35k with them before I had some issues with them. I think they are a solid tire. Check out what people say over in the forum Fullsizechevy and chevytruckworld they have alot to say about Nittos and Toyos there it seems. I have never tried the Toyos but have heard good things about them also. As for the coopers I have them on my stock wheels and use them on my work truck and they do wear like iron.

I have 35" BFG MTs on a six inch lift. About 20,000 miles on these tires. Proper inflation and regular rotations and I don't notice any wear. I had to replace the back tire less than 1,000 miles ago because some a-hole slashed it. The new tire looks the same as the rest, as far as treading.

If I were buying new all terrain tires I'd get the Cooper ST's. They look nice and aggressive and I have heard nothing but high numbers for mileage wear on them...usually 50k+.

I just bought Nittos and love them. A friend has a Dodge Diesel and has 35k on his Nittos, and still has a lot of meat! The key is to rotate and make sure your allignment is good.

Thanks.

Well... I have the 265 70 16 Load E. I towed 4 to 6 times a year and have only gotten 40 K on them them and they are gone... Looking at BFG or ???? Spend the extra cash and get something that will last.

This was in May, my reply to someone else who asked. I now have 30,000 on mine and they are still plenty good enough to get me til winter comes. I was always a diehard BFG A/T guy but they are way more expensive then Nittos and I've been happy with mine. Anyhow, here you are:

"Awesome tire for how much they cost. I had a set on my '02 Z71 I used for 3 winters(20" highway treads for summers) then put the same tires from that truck on my '06 'Max stock wheels when I got it. Not sure of miles on that set but it was alot.

Put a brand new set of 285's on 16x8 MT2's shortly after getting my '06 'Max and now have 18,000 on them, there is still easily probably 1/2 tread at least left.

They get a little growly when they need rotated but I rotate about every 5K miles. I keep pressures in check and spin them relatively frequently on hard accelerations.

Incredible in the snow, I hardly put mine in 4WD except when in passing lane at highway speeds with road COVERED. Excellent in the rain and handle very well in dry turns/on ramps, etc.

My first set of 285's were $508 delivered to my door fro www.discountiredirect.com (http://www.discountiredirect.com/) and 2nd set went up to $532 delivered. I only put load range D on mine and not the E's as I dont haul HEAVY but I imagine if I did go with E's the mileage would be even better.

You wont be dissappointed I'm fairly confident in saying..."

And heres the link to see everyone elses opinions http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155078

Good luck,
Mike

I have heard that Nitto's and Toyo's are I believe it because the descriptions of the tires are so similar. I had a set of 305/70/16E tire on my 03' F350 Crew cab PSD and I thought they were great. I put about 35,000 miles on them before getting rid of the truck and they still looked to be at around 40%. They were much better in the wear department than the BFG AT that I had used before. I had them on an 8" rim, the BFG's were on stock rims, and so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Just my 2cents, but I think 40k miles is pretty good for a set of tires, especially for a truck of our size and use/abuse. I'm also considering going up to 265's..debating between the Toyo Open Country A/T's, Nitto's , or BFG's. As far as pricing, the Nitto's are starting to look pretty good.

For what it's worth, had $350 Run-flat Goodyears on my Caddy...lasted 9k miles:mad: ...Now that really SUCKSl:rolleyes: Now running Toyo Proxes and love them...both quality and pricing.

ive ran both the open country ATs, and Nitto Terras. i would go hands down with the TOYOs, they wear better, run quieter, and hook up on pavement much better. although i do like the look of the terra grapplers i had one blow completely apart doing 65MPH, at 48psi with only 8k miles

I had a guy at a tire shop tell me the nitto's are toyo copies...I don' think he new what he was talking about. But the tread is similar on the AT's.

:agreed: I agree with the tire guy! I have heard that before and if you read the descriptions of the tire they sound simalar. They may be a little differnet but I belive them to be made by the same company. I don't think that it is a negative.

i got mine from my tire guy for 450 out the door. they wear perfect i did not rotate them for over 17000 miles and they are fine. ill bet i will get 35000 out of them i had better gas mileage from the stock tires though not much they are great on the snow and like every other tire on the ice. great in mud and really good traction. although i would not buy them again because i can get a better tire out there but for 650 they are worth it.
