i have a problem starting my truckk after it sits awhile after driving 35-50 miles. the lift pump was replaced last wednesday and now i have this starting problem. it seems as though my glow plug relay isnt staying on long enough to heat the cylinders. does this make sense to anyone and has anyone has this problem? i am going out of town in the am and wonder of i should drive it or not. i wwould appreciate any and all help i can get. what brand lift pump?? Check it to make sure it's operating--certain brands are not rated for diesel and tend to go bad quickly. Also, what about air in the system. If this started AFTER the lift pump was changed, maybe you'll find your problem there

Bad + - connections on the batteries will do that. they'll short cycle because they can't draw enough juice. Cut the plastic off the crap GM put on there and clean it and the connecting bolts if you don't buy new ones.

Yes, battery connections are very important!

Two other things to think about. Fuel filter and do you have the "Turbo Power" cover on top of the intake? This cover makes some maintenance difficult, it also can keep excess heat near the Injection Pump. If you have power down to the lift pump, try pouring some tap water onto the top of the Injection Pump. When these get tired heat can increase the already tight tolerances inside the pump head. Pouring tap water can cool it just enough to get it running again. If this does work then the IP is going to have to come off soon.

You'll probably have some of the death codes logged anyway. Your covered by GM for 11 years/120,000 miles with NO deductible.

Good Luck
