I have a banks six gun in my 06 LBZ but I think I bought it before I did enough research. I have been reading more about the EFI and am considering selling the banks kit an switching! Looking for some info an ideas. Still need to learn more about the EFI. Is it better than a chip. I can tune the banks kit. Wondering if it would be worth switching or I shouls stick with what I got. Help me with ideas

It really depends how much time you have to learn the tuning part of it. I really like the banks setup. I like the safety feature that you get from it. You can do alot of things with programs like efi or hptuners. You can also screw up alot more if you do not know what you are doing.

I am going to go with the efilive, after I get some guages in the truck. I am just going to start with a small tow tune, until I get some more miles on the truck(2,300 right now), and buy or build a tranny. There is a lot of people on here with great knowledge of efi live. Do some searching, find out who is using it, and start asking questions. I was curious just like you, but after getting the responses that I have, I have made up my mind.

What do you want to do? If you want all out performance and dont mind doing a built trans and all that a custom tunning software will take you farthur than banks. If you just want a daily driver type deal and have some fun then I would probably stick with the banks. What you would gain for the $ you would spend wouldnt be worth it to me. But maybe you like tnning and tweaking your own truck? If it looks like fun then go with a tunning software like EFI live.
EFI live wont tune the banks. And its not a better chip, it is a tunning tool at is only as good as what you put into it. The positive is you can make it act how you want it instead of banks witch is pretty much pre set. You want a lopey idle to make it sound like a cam, or open the vanes at idle or close em so your truck sounds differnt at idle? You want it to be very soft down low till you realy get on it? You want to alter your boost up or down? You want a "valet tune" that wont go over a certian RPM? You want a tune written just for milage? Want a tune that smokes like crazy? You can do all that. But its only as good as what you do. Its not realy hard to learn though :)

I've had EFI since December.
So far I love it, made many tunes, (some good some bad)
I really like the ability to log and scan. You can see exactly everything your truck is doing in real time. This helps you make fine changes and get it running better than any off the shelf tuner. I seem to get a little bit better millage than others running regular tuners.
If you don't want to spend some time learning the EFI software, maybe something like banks is better for you, but I hope you got the money to drop on it, last I checked Banks was pricey!

Well to be fair. Your efi live plus gauges must be pretty close to the price of the banks with the pda (gauges)

I would agree at the price comparision if he were buying new. But to sell the banks at a loss and then buy gauges and EFI live......

Thanks for the info. I wish I looked into the efi 1st. I would rather be able to play around with my truck rather than just push 1-6. It sucks cause I spent the money. I will keep looking into it an see if I can sell a banks setup. Thank god I live at home. I like to play

If It's anything like what I had on my 03 there aint much out there that will touch it. I would stick with Banks until you get your tranny built then look at EFI or PPE.
