The fuel gauge goes about 45 degrees past zero on the right side of gauge when filled up? Is it typical to do that for a 1993 yr.? It still moves when fuel is consumed but the needle is way of the map?
Wonder if that is the sender goofed up or the receive end?
Or typical chevy diesel over time?

Sending unit in the tank. Very common. Some spin round and round, some go way off the map, mine just bounces around as the tank empties. Only fix is to drop the tank and change the sending unit.

Mine was like that when I first got it, but later we dropped the tank to replace the filter sock and it's not done it since then. It still sits past full for about 95-100 miles, but isn't WAY over to the right like it used to be. It's more like about 1/8" away or so.

Mine goes way to the right when full to the brim, can go a couple of hundred Km before it starts to drop. From half to E goes a lot faster. Most of my GM cars and trucks have been like that.
