Has anyone tried the cold air intake modification from coolmyduramax.com?
They say it is like the intake on the new d-max's. For $60 my '05 might love it.

I have the TxC cold air intake on my 05. I have not verified intake air temps before and after, but it seems to seal off the intake quite well from the engine compartment air. If you also do the airbox mod at the same time, I think that you will find that it works quite well, and will not cost you hundreds of dollars for the same result.

I have the TxC cold air on my 04.5 LLY. Easy install and it used the stock filter that is cheaper than the 06 type.

I have one on my 2005 LLY. Easy to install, works, and the price is right.

Good product.......highly recomended. Cool your Duramax:
1. TX CAI Best place to start
2. V2 w/Fan Best save your pennies.
3. FanDamn All three for the ultimate in quiet large load cooling.
I'm saving up for the V2!

I have the CAI mod. Not sure if there is a difference or not since I keep re-tuning my truck but it definately can't hurt and like said above you get to keep the stock filter which is the best one on the market.

Add another happy customer to the list. The $60 route is trick, and effective. I cannot say the same for several other >$250 "CAI" kits. The
other benefit is that it is as stealth as you can get.
Mine came in the mail today. I'll be installing it tonight.:)

My TxC CAI arrived today. Printed the instructions from the cd and went to work. Instructions said 10 to 20 min to install. Mine only took about 1 hr. Took me about 15 min to read and understand the instructions (but I am kindly slow). The installation actually went very smoothly. No real problems, looks good - now we will see how well it works.

I have one, along with a "scanguage" that will read out IAT (intake air temp). Yes, it does help keep down IAT, especially when you are moving. Stopped, with the truck hot, IAT does climb as much as 75F, but it comes down much quicker than stock. IAT does also climb when the fan comes on, but again, not as fast or as much as stock. IMHO it does help delay when the fan comes on under load by keeping IAT in check. Normally the IAT is only a few degrees above the outside air temp reading. Looks clean installed, in fact I'll bet most people wouldn't even notice anything has been done, and it does go in pretty quick.
