I bought and installed the Silverline Dual Exhaust. It's not annoyingly loud but it has a big block deep rumble sound. It was very pricey and somewhat hard to install. The instructions are very vague. It's really time consuming adjusting the left side pipe because of the limited space but the looks of the dual 5" polished tips out the back is well worth the time. If you want to really personalize your truck I would go with this product. If too pricey go alluminized. If you want loud go straight pipe.

Straight Piped. No noise increase in cab ecept a nice rapping sound at about 2800-3100 rpm. But outside my buddy can hear me coming from a block away, and its way cheeper than after market systems. I love it and have an extra $1000 in my pockethttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif.

Does that mean you simply removed the muffler and cat converter? Youre just straight factory pipe all the way back?

from what I have read and experienced..its all up to the owner in what sounds best.

Personally I want the performance gains with no noise. I have the motoblue SS full exhaust kit, soon to be installed.

The nice thing about Duramax is power and quiet. You want LOUD. why didn't you just buy a Ford or a Dodge? The attention you get with LOUD may not be the kind of attention you think it is. You want them to look at you and think you're cool......they may well be thinking "who's that fool?"

I have been told by 2 different people. Their only intentions may have been in selling a kit. By eliminating the muffler supposidly you lose too much back pressure. In which you lose vacuum. If you lose the vacuum, the exhaust is not being drawn out it is relying only on the engine to be pushed out. I have the banks kit now. I was not completely impressed. I have the MBRP in the garage waiting for the new truck to arrive. The overall diameter of the muffler is considerably smaller. But the the intake and exhaust tube of the muffler is the same 4". I don't know how it will do. But, the MBRP baffles or vents inside are swirled. Like if they are to create a vacuum. I am still learning about diesel. But, I know in the gas world sometimes more is too much.

I used to have an 01 LB7 that i put a 4" flow master on but it got totalled {the accedent was not my falt} and i still had the old exaust. So i swapped the head pipe. [the 01's have no cat] and used about 2 feet of pipe that bends under the crossmember infront of the muffler to replace the muffler on my LLY. It was cheep and it sounds great, turbo spools way faster, feels like 20-30 more hp. I love ithttp://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif.

Are you getting any engine codes? Is the banks LLY system any better than the old one?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif

Personally like the truck to be near silent, hence, leaving the stock system intact.

From what banks says. It's the same. No engine codes. That is one of the things banks is good at. They won't release something unless it works properly.

Whoever the two people are that told you you need vacuum on a diesel to draw out the exhaust are really playing some head games.

The less backpressure the better in almost all cases in a turbo charged diesel engine.

Mark Craig,

Thank you, I did not know that. I am learning as I go along here. And the more I learn the more I realize Diesel is more and more a different animal. I over killed my exhaust on my super charger, on my 8.1(of course gas). I put headers and larger exhaust. I lost pressure when I did it. Whipple industry designs the kit with the factory parts in mind. When I test drove the S.C. I noticed I had less boost than they claimed. I had to add a smaller puller to compensate. Enough of that this is a DIESEL site.

I use the Motoblue 4" turboback dual exit kit on my lly. Seems like it gained a lot of power. Not completly satisfied with the sound. Just not loud enough. Installation wasnt too bad. Directions werent very detailed but I figured it out.

dewhart - I have heard of areoturbine and am looking into getting one as soon as my wife will let me spend the money. Talked to a couple of people who have them and they say they are awsome, one is a F@rd and the other a D@dg*. They sound great on their trucks makes it sound like a big rig...sorta brings out the turbo whine. Only problems I see is you have to get your on pipe as all they sell is the muffler.
