Hey Guys...
After reading about the cat and court thing, I have a question for the East Coasters... Especially in PA and NJ where I run the most...

Has anyone ever been sniffed out there AND were you Catless? What did LEnforce. do?

I am looking to remove the cat on my LBZ and want to know what these states are up to!

Thanks in Ad...

The Law in PA is a visual check. If your truck came with a cat then it must have one. Does not say where or that it has to work. I doubt must inspection stations would bother looking. I no I dont get to wooried about it. Jersey on the other hand! :) I dont have a clue.

There are no emissions inspections in Pa for Diesels. So, if you get pulled over, they are really going to have a reason to crawl under your truck. The "visual inspection" is part of the annual inspection, I guess. But since you are not registered in PA, you won't be getting inspected here. So, I wouldn't sweat it here in lovely P-Gay, but I read in the new Diesel Power that NJ is doing random sniffer tests on diesel pick ups now. I heard from some big truck guys, they'd stop you and tell you to floor it in park, if it didn't throw up much, they wouldn't bother hooking up the sniffer, if it did smoke, then they'd check it. I don't know if that is what their doing now or not, but don't blow smoke (if yours does) and you should be ok.

Just so we're clear Duravirgin, you run through here for work, you aren't planning on relocating, right? So your main concern is inspections from cops? Correct? However, I guess if you are considered a "commercial vehicle" then you'd have to stop at weigh stations and possibly be inspected by the creeper cops, right? If so, you may want to keep it (cat) as all they have to do is pop the hood and see on the sticker where the vehicle met 06 emissions and was equipped with a cat. If they don't see one, then you might be screwed. Forgot about that, originally.

Hey BA...

Thanks for the help to ALL....

Actually my GFriend lives in NJ... (N of Philly)... So I go out once a month or so... prob more during coming holiday's... I usually drive all night from IN and depending on when I leave... Im usually out there late at night or early morning.... But I know... NJ as a state are reals pricks about all of stuff that us simple country folk let slide... (farm fuel... what's that?)

Anyway... I just wondered... I didnt figure I'd have too much problem in PA just Jersey... I haven't pulled any loads out of the east yet... so shouldn't have to worry about the scales....I usually run the Pike out of Wheeling, WV over to just west of Philly!

Yeah the main concern is donating my money to the state... do enough of that on the Pike!

Thanks
DV

Cool, if you aren't hauling as a comm vehicle, I'd say go for it. I seriously doubt they'd catch you unless your belching smoke everywhere on the highway.

Well... about the only time I smoke is when I have some lil 16 yr old b----- riding my bumper and I notice her hair is blowing around with the sunroof open and the windows down... That's usually when I like to clean out my LBZ...

Thanks for all the help!!

Come on now...we get coffee and donuts for free;) but, I dont do either...... I am checking into this sniffer check for pickups...think it could be a rumor. I have heard nothing about it.

BTW: I do know about "farm" aka off road diesel :D and my truck is perfectly legal and does not even smoke :p:

Team... Gotta kick out of your reply... Are you a Troop? I would sure like to know where I stand as far as the Cat in your state!

Dont want any problems!

I never ran farm fuel in mine either... Not worth it!

If you hear anymore let me know...

Thanks
