My 2005 Sierra (CC, LB) is supposed to be built this week so it's time to start getting the mods ready. It looks like they will include -

Precision Billet Grill (stainless)

Grill frame painted red

Sierra Denali headlights and door handles (handles and mirrors painted red)

Low beams and driving lights upgraded to HID

Spray in bed liner

Tint

37x13.5/17 ProComp Xterrain tires are wrapped around 17x8.5" Weld Evo Renegade XT wheels

9” Cognito lift – front section powdercoated red

Driveshaft polished and clear coated

4.56 gears

Kenwood DDX7015 2-DIN In-Dash 6.5" Monitor DVD/CD/MP3/WMA with Navigation, voice recognition ect…

9” Screens behind each of the headrests

Microsoft X-Box

Two back-up cameras. One to see behind me and one pointing towards the hitch

Volant or VaraRam induction

Programming - either TTS, Westers or the Edge

Corsa exhaust (not released yet) or MBRP exhaust

I might see what a turbo upgrade will be good for. And finally, all of this will probably lead to a transmission upgrade. I think I'll leave the rest of the truck stock

And what lottery did you win to be able to afford all those accessories? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

The fish tank sounds like a good idea. I would only do one that is about 12" high but have it 3-4 feet long/wide. Don't know how the fish would like hard runs away from a stop light though. The blender and light for the tank could be plugged into this truck. It will have a 120 power supply under the rear seat :)

The truck should be here in about a week so it won't be long before I can dig into the pile of parts.

I'm in the business of modifying vehicles. We don't do alot with diesels yet but that will be changing soon. I'll then sign on here as a Supporting Vendor. There are some vehicles listed in my first post above. They give you an idea of some of the things that I put together. One that isn't in that list was sold last year. It was a '98 Z-28 that made 672hp at the rear wheels. Very fun car to drive! :)

I went with Fire Red for this one.

I can be found on many of the forums on the net including the CorvetteForum and chevyavalanchefanclub. There are so many places to go on the net but not enough time in the day.

The truck came in today and the mods will start on Tuesday. The first thing to be done is the Rhino liner. The grill, mirrors, flares and smooth handles will also be dropped off to be painted Fire Red. Next Tuesday the truck will go in for all of the audio/visual work and then to my shop for the lift and performance upgrades. You might wonder why I'm taking apart a truck with 20 miles on it. This allows everything to break in at the same time! :)

I dropped all the parts off to be painted and then left the truck at my local Rhinoliner dealer to spray the bed tomorrow.

If you only want to go 37's I would go CST and if you want to go 38's or bigger I would check out bulletproofsuspension.com. I run it on my ride and my brother run's their kit on his 02 8.1 burban 2500 with 38x15.5 toyo's on 20x10 weld daggers. The heimed steering is the biggest advantage over the other "big" IFS lifts. I will try and remember to post some pics up. Can't wait to see its progress. It all happens so fast!

better buy stock in GM front suspension parts cause you will need them after the lift and tires. Mine has only 25k on it and the wheelbearings failed

I probably only put 8-10,000 miles a year on my trucks so it should be at least 2 years before I need to do a wheelbearing swap. I think I'm going to go with the Cognito lift. Alot of people have been recommending them for something in the 7-9" range.

The first mod was taken care of today. That is the Rhino liner -

Where did you have the Rhino liner done and how much did they charge. If you don't mind. thanks

I am also curious as to the cost, ive been thinking about gettin mine sprayed soon, was debating the over the rails but after seeing yours I like it. As far as the lift, I have never seen the cognito in person and I live in Southern California (big IFS galore). I thought cognito only offered 10-12" kit depending on how much you crack the bars, which might make the 37's look small, either way DO NOT use their rear shackle set-up it is shady. I haven't had wheel bearing problems, just replaced my upper ball joints once. ditching the tie-rod ends for heims is a must for 37"+ unless you can buy them in bulk or something.

The linder was done by Rhino Linings of Fall River (actually in Tiverton). Their number is 1-401-624-1987 and e-mail - rickcyr@cox.net. Site is www.rhinoliningsoffallriver.com. Tell Rick that I sent you :)

The cost to spray my 8" bed and go over the rails was $500.

Cognito has a 7-9" kit and a 10-12" (they need to update their site). The max I can legally lift the truck in this state is 4" so an extra 4" from the left and another 4 from the tires should be ok :) I'm going to see what kind of springs they offer. I might delete those and go with the Deavers. I use those on my '02.

I got my truck Rhino lined at the same place about a week before it changed hands. I recommended four guys there and have regretted it since. While mine looks real good and has held up great, theirs all look like crap. They now spray the side walls so thin it looks like spray paint, then the ones that were over the rails were either super thin or gobbed on so much it had to be cut off, the inconsistency is ridiculous. This is one of those things that comes down to if it was done right and done good, it's possible he did this one good, but I'd bet it's one out of a hundred. If any of you guys decide you want to go there, drop me a line first and I'll show you a truck they did that will you out a doubt change your mind.... If I had it to do over again, I'd went with Line-X, I've since seen a bunch that were done over in Providence IIRC and were done right and good...

Blue Ox who do you recommend in this area?

Line-X of RI in Johnston. I've had two trucks done, and no complaints. TJ's (BlueOx03) truck came out real nice, but I've seen some less than desirable results come out of Rhino of F.R. One of my customers trucks looks like the sides of the bed barely got overspray - little to no texture at all, and real sloppy all around. Maybe just a bad day, but I'll stick with Line-X.

It's one of those - a product like that only goes on once! On a side note, if you don't like the results from wherever you go, don't leave until its right.

I will say Line-X of RI is right next to the Johnston landfill. If you leave your truck (http://www.adsrve.com/linkredirect.php?h=515,22457217,dieselplace.com,1) there too long, the paint might peel off, or you could possibly get instant cancer. What a horrible location -:t . Great results, though, honest.

Best of luck,

Ty

It was good meeting you too Pete!

I decided on the lift and will be ordering my lift in the morning. Here is the rundown -

Cognito 7-9" lift - final lift will probably be in the 8-8.5" range.
7" Leaf springs instead of the blocks
Dual shock hoops with tubular upper control arms
Fox reservoir shocks

Justin at Cognito said I can run 5" backspacing with no problem. This will make up for the wider front track that this kit provides (1" on each side). I could use 1" spacers in the rear and have this BS all around. This way I can rotate the tires as needed. It will keep the track even front and rear.

The truck is in for the A/V system now :)

Ozzy, after seeing the last two trucks Ty got Line-Xed among others compared to the ones I've seen from FR rhino, I'd scrape mine out and have it Line-Xed if I had the time. That and you gotta look down the road too. Ever replace a tailgate? I paid $350 to get the whole bed done, Rick wants $200 to do just a gate, even to do it as an add on...Line-X $50...I guess some places like to KEEP their customers. Of coarse I got my bed done before Rick bought the place....
