I have been closely following the Predator vs PPE post, as I have narrowed my choice down to those two. Last night I got my first CEL and it turned out to be the P0403 EGR code.
I thought that I got away with removing my cat recently and not getting any codes, maybe not. It now seems pointless to spend the money for a finger stick if I use the PPE and disable the EGR. It sounds like I might need to go ahead and block the EGR, but I don't need the finger stick.
Is this right?

You can, the way I understand it disable the EGR with the PPE but you have to use the Xelerator and up. The Economy will not disable.
I never had any EGR codes before I installed the stick but a 0401 showed up one day but it cleared and hasn't came back.

Yes blocks egr/cat codes but I would still install a blocker plate.

Since I purchased a PPe Xcellerator today, I asked most of the same questions. Yes, you can defeat the EGR with any of the PPe products except the Economy. If you defeat the EGR, they recommend that you block the EGR, but not use the Finger Stick.
I got a somkin' deal on a Turbo back and have had it installed for a couple of months and really like the performance, and it has seemed to help the mileage a little. I was running 265's and recently went to 285's and I want to get the speedo corrected and kill the EGR, I got my first code this week.
Is it worth it? That depends entirely on your driving habits and your truck. But one thing for certain, it will a lot more fun.

So what happens if you need to go to the dealer? You put the stock program back in and then it instantly starts throwing codes?
Would you have to go through all of the trouble of taking out the blocker plate, get your dealer stuff fixed, then put that plate back in?
Or do you just leave the PPE tune in and take it to the dealer for other warrany stuff?
Am I thinking to crazy or what?
I'm asking because I'm getting close to buying a PPE tuner.
Thanks.

I recently had to go to the dealer, I installed stock tune (was set to 90hp PPE) and removed blocker plate. Removal of blocker plate is much easier than installation. I plan on reinstalling blocker plate when I service the trk in another 2000mi. Not a big deal IMHO. The last thing I wanted was the dealer to see blocker plate, my dealer is not mod friendly.
