Hi, a friend of mine has a 2001 4x4 Dmax 70,000 miles. He says he is having a vibration and a ticking noise, coming from somewhere. He says it starts at 20 mph and quits at 40mph, feels like rough road. Any thoughts? Thanks.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I have a vibration sometimes when I'm towing. Usually on a slight grade but I attribute this to my split drive line. Sometimes I get a little "shudder" on acceleration from a stop. Don't know about the "ticking" noise.

The ticking noise has been called by GM in a TSB as a normal noise. Search this forum to find the actual TSB. My 01 DMAX does the same thing. I had a vibration during launch, but it had to do with the drive shaft and a 6in lift. That's been fixed though. I read in another post that folks were complaining about vibration and GM recommended replacing the two piece drive shaft with a one piece. Hope this helps.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gifMy friend took his truck to the shop, had his truck for two days. $950.00 later his truck is fixed, something on front end was bad.(forgot what it was) Had to have both sides replaced, he was not happy!(Not Normal!)
