I spoke with an RV salesman over the weekend, and we all know you can always trust them!! He told me that Toyota is coming out with a HD truck next year that will supposedly out-tow anything else on the road. I'm not sure whether it will have a diesel engine or gas, but it may be worth looking at because of Toyota's record of dependable autos in the past.

Anyone know anything about this?

Talked to a reputable yota manager today who said a 3/4 and 1 ton Tundra will show up in 07 with a diesel power plant available built thru a join venture with Renault. When this truck shows up the 1/2 ton tundra will be gone and they will push the new tacoma as its replacement.

i wonder if they will try and badge that engine as MACK powered... might make for some interesting marketing... [mack and renault had/have an engine parternship]

From what I've read, the diesel will be sourced from Toyota's commercial truck division, Hino.

I am not dissin' Toyota here, because they do have some high quality products, but remember when the T100 was launched. It was hyped to have a frame and suspension so strong, that it made anything from the Big Three look like their frames and suspensions were about as rigid as wet spaghetti!! ( Well, the hype from the media made it sound like that anyway!! )

But the Hino trucks and their engines do have impressive track records!! Correct me if I am wrong here, but werent some HINOS ISUZU powered?

Time will tell, but I cant wait that long!! So hurry up Toyota, and release it!! Another diesel powered pick up is always welcomed!!

Take care

Will

I've heard that the Diesel engine will be a V10 diesel. Should be interesting. No doubt that Toyota makes a great vehicle, but they are priced higher than comporable models. The question is can they get this new diesel priced right, where the average man can afford them?

On a side note, these HD trucks will be built in San Antonio TX. Toyota just build a new plant down there.
