Newbe question here. If all i wanted was 1-2 inches increase(to level up somewhat the front to the back) Could i do this with stock keys & will i need a realignment? Or how far can i go up without a realignment? thanks

Yes, and yes. The ride will probably start to suffer
significantly at the 2" point because you are severely limiting the
allowable down travel on the shocks at that point. You can space
the shocks down with spacers and washers (go to the DIY section, and
look around there for a thread started by Masterp2). It also may
result in premature front end component failure or wear. . .

Good Luck,

Dennis

You make an excellent point.
This past weekend I changed out the factory shocks for Bilsteins. just for kicks I decided to read the shop manual procedure - I did not want any surprizes.

I learned that, by design, the front shocks are the only thing limiting front suspension downward travel. If the truck is supported by the frame and the front shocks are removed, chances are good that something will bend or break because the tires, wheels, and suspension parts are hanging way too low and moving past their design limits.

If you raise the front 2" by adjusting the torsion bars, you are now 2" closer to the end-of-travel stop built into the shocks. This is the reason baimpala mentions spacing the shocks down with spacers, and good advice in my opinion.
