when I returned home late Friday nite I had a package that had arrived. Weighed 103 lbs and took about 2 months to show up . . . from Macs-Performance!!!! Hope to get it installed this Saturday with help from IBDMAX'IN and his buddy (Wade, has Nick joined this forum yet?).

Craig will call while we are doin the install and we will take notes and pics. There will eventually be a set of detailed instructions posted for this flywheel/clutch kit installation.

I am really looking forward to haulin' ass without the clutch slippin http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

Don't think you'll have much trouble doing that now that you have that thing installed!!

Boy John I really think that truck is going to tear some stuff up at Alamosa if you decide to go.

It really was fun installing that thing, just wish we would of had it done in the 4 hours it takes Craig!!

I finally have a dual disk clutch and single mass flywheel from CPMac installed in my tuck and it is working fabulously. Thanks to IBDMAX'IN and his gearhead buddy, St. Nick, for doing the install (with a little help from me and some tips and tricks from Craig). http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley31.gif It took a long time and we ran into a number of problems and mistakes but we (they) did succeed. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

There is a metal squeal when taking off on 1st gear which is new to me but is, as Craig told me this morning, normal for disks made out of (mostly) metal and designed to be extremely stout. It may or may not go away over time, but the hold of the clutch is amazing. Once I get used to the squeal, the harder pedal, and the no-slip clutch , I expect to be able to smoke a lot of gassers, blue ovals, and sheepheads . http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

This is so cool http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley16.gif it is hard to believe without personal experience.

Wade took quite a few pics of the trashed flywheel and clutch GM made http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley21.gif and a number of pics of the Macs-Performance dual disk clutch/flywheel kit http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif and the installation. Wade (with a little help from St. Nick and I) will post the pics along with text and instructions about pullin out the tranny and doin the install and re-assemble. May take a while to get this all done but it should be helpful. An I expect that Wade might be able to arrange for some install help for locals in need. . . give him a PM if interested.

Wade, my plan, once I find out where and when, is to SMOKE HELL out of Alamosa, as well as to and from http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif.

I think that now I am ready to start stackin 4 or 5 mor chips and addin some rocket fuel to my truck http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif

BTW, after the install and fillin the tank I went to an AT truck stop and had my truck weighed. I was not in it. The scale had been worked on the day before, my truck has a 6" lift, 6x8x16 wheels and 35 inch tires, and Ranchand Bullnose front and Cowboy rear bumpers and Jason teaneau cover. The scale said 5960 lbs http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif. CPMac did not believe it. Opinions? This was a CAT scale and I have a certification tag. . . . .

My squeal went away for a while and then came back after a rough ride at the pullin' track. I like my clutch but the jumping around taking off is starting to get old. I have been debating going to a single, but I have not decided. Sounds kind of light to me as I am right around 7000#.

I went w/ the single setup and it seems to work great. No more noise, clutch slip, or hard pedal at full-throttle w/ 25psi boost anymore. I run the VA-150 box, and can finally break it loose (on straight dry pavement) quite easily in 3rd now, I couldn't do that before. I do have the neutral idle rattle, but it's not that bad and it sounds more like a real truck anyhow. Gotta have something to drown out the thumpythump of the rice burners.. Hafta hold the clutch at the drive-up window though... :-)

Road tripped to West Texas a couple weeks ago (in the friggin snow on the way back believe it or not) and I noticed that I no longer have the hard pedal after driving for several hours problem either.

The pedal seemed a lot stiffer right after I installed it, but now doesn't seem any stiffer than before, probably because I am used to it. I don't get any jumping at go time but it is definitely a little more grabby than the stock disc, but not bad.

I still seem to have the hard pedal when I drive a long way on the interstate. My squeaky pedal has gone away with the cooler weather.

Funny http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif Craig had the same comment. I need to go back, or elsewhere and get weighed again. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifEdited by: Deadeye
