I have a few questions concerning towing with my new 2004.5 LLY.

1. If I leave it bone stock, should I still install a pyrometer? A couple of times a year. I will be pulling around 13K 300 miles one way. Does the engine have enough safeguards in stock form to prevent me from melting it down if I don't have a pyrometer to monitor?

2. If I purchase a programmer, what is the highest setting for HP/TQ that I should set it on for towing this kind of weight with the stock Allison?

3. If I up the HP/TQ with a programmer, should I also at that time install a 4" cat-back exhaust or will the stock exhaust still be fine (assuming I'm not running much additional HP/TQ)? I plan to leave the kitty alone.

4. I purchased a set of H2's that I plan to shod with 285/70/17's and install once the stockers are bald. Will they clear without turning up the torsion bars? I don't mind trimming the air dam or tying back the fender liner but I want to leave the bars alone.

Thanks!!

I run my J/A on level 1 towing 14,000#, works good.

I haven't hooked up the pyro yet, may get an 05 so I'd do it to that one.

The trimming of airdam and the tie back is all that is needed for the tires.

I gave the bars a couple of turns any way, seams to make it ride a little better ( raises a arms off the bump stop).

I run stock exhaust w/ cat.

I run the hypertech on stage 2 with a 4" cat back exhaust installed by a local muffler shop. I went from 13 mpg to 15.7 mpg and have plenty of towing power, the trans doesnt overheat and very little exhaust noise. I run 285 16 bfg mud terrains. I have installed the ranch hand bumper/grill gaurd which give better clearance over the stock front bumper and raised the torsion bars a couple of turns. I have no clearance problems. Stage 3 of the hyper tech make the tranmission slip when you get on it. Stage 2 seems to handle just fine.
