Not cool Eric, all of my worst fears realized. Mine is still all stock with 46K. Maybe I'll be lucky with this one.

Just goes to that to much fuel will melt pistons, nice spary transfer of the melted piston to the cylinder wall. Wonder what caused the injector on that cylinder to fail. Better is the nice frag job on the fuel pump, any idea as to what would cause that? Or are photos from a ether fired engine?

I dont know much history on any of the photos so cant comment on that. These are isolated incidents, so dont worry aketay.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

The fragged injection pump I have seen, in a similar condition.

Oddly enough, the truck ran, and even had some power, but it was
leaking fuel like crazy.

looked for the obvious loose fuel line, pulled the injection pump and
there was a pile of parts and scrap laying in the valley.

All the plugs had been beat out, parts of spring and roller hanging out. I
couldn't believe the truck still ran.

replaced the pump under warranty, wanted to replace the injectors too,
but due to how GM pays warranty, we had to send it out again and wait
for it to come back. and it did, 2 weeks later. fuel in the oil.

replaced all 8 and haven't seen the truck since.

We had cases where guys where unplugging the regulator and causing the pumps to explode like that.
