I just finished my three month long project of building a cold air intake. i think it turned out good. the CAI and remote pmd mount cost me less than $20.00, i scavanged most of the parts.
I moved my battery to the drivers side length wise behind the other battery and changed all of the connections to post mount. I then relocated the horn and wiring and removed all of the ducting for the old air intake. I used 2 15"X30" sheets of stainless steel to close in the area to the left of the radiator and about 12 inches from the radiator support. then i installed heat shield insulation on the inside of the box and installed the filter from my ssdiesel fake CAI and plumbed to the turbo with 3 inch ABS. I am going to replace the ABS with steel as it looks like poop. I mounted a piece of heat sink in the bottom of the box and mounted the PMD to it. I think i am going to have to insulate the tube from the box to the turbo and insulate the outside of the box too as it felt a little warm when i got home. I noticed a little bit of difference in performance but i am unsure it helped alot. I would post pics but i am not technologically advanced enough

I think he noted that he wasn't able to get the "picture loading" thing figured out..;)

But, yes, pics are nice. It's a little hard to explain how to do it (well, maybe it's not that hard, but if it was me trying to explain it you would only get more confused!) You might be able to find out by using the search funtion on this website.

Gardner - don't rush to change that ABS out to steel. There's a heat advantage to using the ABS - less engine heat will enter your intake air.

just spray bomb the abs with some flat black,,, it will blend right in! =)
