Hey guys I have a 2007.5 4X4 2500 HD Crew, it has 1,500 miles on it right now, just picked up the PPE 4 level tuner for it. I'm a little dissapointed, I really cannot tell much difference. I started with level 2 and now its at level 4 (225hp), I don't feel anything. Addtionally, aren't the shift points/rev limit supposed to be higher?? Am I doing something wrong? Not getting any codes, truck runs fine, just doesn't seem any quicker, turbo lag is terrible.

Thanks in advance

Are you sure you have the correct tuner?
You will know without question if its working.
The power difference will be very noticeable.

Just bought it stright from PPE, box says 2007.5 LMM, programmer also says this when 'booting up'. I was searching their site for updates as the programmer is supposedly internet upgradeable via usb cable, but dont see anything about it on pacificp.com

Still shifts at 3,100 rpm full throttle on any tune setting...

Tony D,
Please keep us up to date on your situation. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an 07' and I'm curious how much difference the tuner makes.

Wow, something is definetly not right. I only run the 90hp tune and its night and day different than stock.

PM dan at PPe he's on the vendors list. He's super cool and i'm sure he can diag. the problem..

Bought the PPE Hot 5 stage last week. Very Happy. Definatly notice a difference. Left 150 feet of both tires with little effort @ 8000 ft.:D From what I understand only the HOT has the ability to put out 225 hp on level 5. I think you maybe have the Standard Programmer if it only has 4 levels. I think the standard puts out 90-160 hp. Again not positive but thats my guess. I cannot tell a big difference between stock and level 3 but I can tell a big difference between stock and level 5. Mine shifts @ 3100 rpm as well. Just took it for a quick spin to verify.:D I think after 3200 rmp it loses boost. Not sure what the best rpm is for shift point, would love to know myself. Good luck hope I was of some help. BTW I also experience turbo lag not extremely bad, but it is there.

Are you sure you truck is not in regen mode now?

How would regen mode effect turbo lag? If this is another side affect of regen......come on PPE and get this crap off my truck!!!

I have a PPE I run on 2. Love it. I notice a difference. But I too am noticing a little bit of "push the throttle and wait a second". It's not bad and it is only when I am driving at very slow speeds. example. I come to a stop sign and slow down to 1-2 mph (no stop) Go to take off real slow, push just a little on the gas and just for a second nothing, then normal power. Maybe I never get into the turbo and this is just part of the characteristics of the truck. I have 3700 miles, and big tires.

This situation only happens when I am babying this thing.

My mileage is going up:D

Dan, thanks for taking interest in this. I am not sure about it being in regen or not, is there an easy way to tell?

I noticed a difference running it in level one and I am running 33+ inch tall tires! As far as regen-mode. You'll notice the truck being a little louder and the rpm's tend to run a little higher. For the regen cycle u must do 30mph+ for a continous 20 minutes. For some reason if you aren't able to, no worries, your truck will continue where it left off even if u shut it down and don't start it up for 2 days later! As far as the tuner, it will be less peppy while in regen.

Ok, now that I know the symptoms of being in regen I can say my truck did that a few days ago, fan clutch seemed really tight (lots of fan noise) and idle speed was slightly higher. It is not in regen right now, on level 4, doesn't feel much different than stock. Dan, in level 4 should the rpm limit be higher? The tuner says 'rpm raised' but it still shifts at 3000-3100 full throttle

Shit, mine hauls Azz on 4!!!!

Mine normally stays on 2 though for daily driving.

Mine goes to a little over 4000rpm that is with the 'tow-haul' button on. Which is what your suppose to do when u are mashing on the pedal.

4,000 RPM? Level 4? Ya something has to be wrong with my stuff or I'm doing something wrong.

As for the Regen cycle, I had my first time knowing it was doing this just last nite. I was on a 35 mile trip to town, and as I stopped at the first lite getting into town my wife was looking out the window, and in the pitch dark, noticed a red glow under the truck. Got out to find the ex pipe cherry red all the way to the muffler from the turbo. The DPF and CAT were both glowing a purple red too. I kept on going and after I got to the shop I looked again and they were all normal.

REALLY?! Thats new to me. Never heard that before. Maybe I need to pay attention in the evening if it regens. Is that normal for the truck to do that?

Dunno. Regen may go as high as 1100, but didn't think anything would glow red. My Edge/Attitude has a display that tells me when I'm in regen mode.

To verify that my truck is in re-gen mode, I reset the DIC. If you are on the freeway and re-gening, you will only be getting 14 mpg max. ;)

What make's the PPE tuner better than others that are available for the new lmm. How much more HP does it give it. Bully Dog "power pup" has one out now and per DIESEL World (October 2007) Magazine dyno test's, Bully Dogs tuner gained 58 hp and 114 ft-lbs increasing the total output to 363 hp and 757 ft -lbs.

level 1 50hp
level 2 90hp
level 3 160hp
level 4 225hp
level 5 260hp

All numbers are rated at the flywheel....

For all you guys that have done the PPE on level 3, 4, or 5, have you done any of the tranny upgrades on your LMM truck?

Ive heard there are different stages of upgrades for the Allison trans, but just wondering if that extra 160hp, or 225hp, or 260hp needs a beefed up tranny or not???

I would atleast put a transgo jr. in.

Sure!

Level 1 50hp/97tq
Level 2 90hp/160tq
Level 3 160hp/325tq
Level 4 225hp/440tq
Level 5 260hp/500tq

Hope this helps!

What does it run out to? What are the LMM's shifting at at WOT now stock? Still the same as the LBZ I would assume? Should be shifting around 3200? Guessing your trans is flairing a bit and it should lower that number and it should be shifting at the stock shift point.

Also I am assuming that the rev issue hasnt been fixed on the LMM's? I assume you can only fule it hard to 3400? If you place your truck in 3rd or so and go lay into it it will probably fall off past 3400 I would bet.

Haen't tried that yet. In level 4 I hit the pedal at 20mph w/ tow-haul button and it went to right at 3500.

From reading another thread about this....

make sure your doors and hood are shut, and your electronics insice are turned off when you're doing the tune. There's another thread on the first page where the exact situation was remedied by that.

I would atleast put a transgo jr. in.

I would think that something like that would be a good idea too LBZrcks. Plus, ive heard the Transgo jr isnt too expensive.

Whats the most HP and torque, and at what # number tune can a stock Allison hold?

Dan@PPE
08-25-2007, 01:23 PM
stock 07.5-08 LMM allison can hold about 440-475 RWHP and still be safe as long as you are not hard on the truck every chance you get. The stock tourqe converter is good to about 800RWlbft of tq.
