I have the new P3 and really like it. It brakes very well in reverse and is easy as heck to set up and use. Never used a Prodigy so I can't compare.

My Prodigy died and I was going to upgrade, then I found out they have a lifetime warranty. I went to the the local rv dealer and they gave me new one no questions asked. So I am more than happy with the reg prodigy.

The P3 definately wins in the "coolness" category. The multi-colored screen is sweet. I think the actual brake functioning is very, very similar to the Prodigy.

The difference is the P3 will work with electric/hydraulic, and electric brakes the prodigy will only work with electric brakes

Hey Haulin, have you ever had to stab the brakes real hard and stop because the traffic is stopped over the hill! Then when you get to idle up 1 truck length at a time and just barely touch the brake pedal and the trailer locks up, embarrasing the crap outa ya? I turned the gain all the way down and boost set to 0:mad: .I reached down and unplugged it then plugged it back in and it went back to working like it was on the first half of the trip from FL to Hershey PA and back. When I got home I put my trusty voyager back in. I am a little gun shy on the prodigy now. I know how many people will respond with "no problems" but maybe I got a bad unit.

In the last 10+ yaers I have never had to replace a Voyager because it was faulty. I think I will stick with the lesser technoligically advanced unit to control my trailer brakes:)
