My 2002 died today 1st time ever. 99,200 miles. I pressed the primer plunger & it was real easy to press. pressed it serveral times and it got harder but fuel leaked around the bottom of the plunger. After that I tried to start it and it cranked up. I think the diaphram in the filter holder assembly(don't know what its called) is bad. Has anyone else had this problem. Do remember how much the assemby thing cost? It looks like a pretty easy job.

Do you think this would be covered under 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty??

Sounds like the button seal has gone, allowing the systen to lose vacuum.
Look ebay over, you sometimes can get a deal there for a filter head.

Some on this site have claimed a new filter mount assembly is about $512.
I've asked before, and it sounds like a O-ring/seal rebuild kit is not available.
As Tolliwacker said, you can sometimes find take-offs on E-Bay for around $50. If fuel leaks out of pump when pumping, I'd expect air getting sucked in while running, causing loss of prime.
Give dmaxalliTech a PM, I'm sure he has a bunch.
Thanks for the replys. I sure hope its not 500 bucks. I'll find out tomorrow. Then I might have pursue other avenues.

Could RTV around the button, but if you change the filter, you will have to do it again..and again..

I seem to remember somebody here posting sizes for the parts to rebuild that pump. It was a year or more ago.
Well the Chevy dealership that I bought truck from here in Bastrop said fuel filter adaptor is the name of the whole assembly and it retails for $615. My friggin jaw dropped.
Also TolliW... I googled RTV and its a silicon product. You think if I just put a good dose of it around the primer button, it would buy me some time to buy $600 part?
Boondokr, I have searched a couple times but havn't found anything yet on a rebuild...
Thanks all
