so what is a good way to wreck my injection pump on purpose before 120,000 miles rolls by? i already have 108,000 and i figure i might as well get a new one for free if i can. i just dont know if this truck has had a new one yet or not. i read somewhere that the replacement pump is only warrented for 12,000 miles. can i call up the dealer with my vin and they tell me if my pump has been replaced?

Dealers have the access to all the deep dark secrets of your warranty information. I don't know how they would work the warranty if it's replaced under warranty, you know what I mean? If you have it changed under warranty at 199,997 miles, then you might have a warranty before you get home, or not, but a question worth asking.
As for wrecking your pump, well, I wouldn't recommend it, as well, it's just not kinda the right thing to do, if you know what I mean. But since you asked, just look at it funny, it will tremble in fear, and fall apart.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif

just bend a pin on the optic sensor, so if they deny you you can atleast repair it.

Didn't the warranty on the pump replacement get extended to 200,000 miles recently?

All our trucks are good to 120,000 miles! If you start the truck and unplug the big harness going to the rear of the pump (fuel solenoid) it should set the DEATH code. Just make sure the lift pump is working! A new fuel filter is good also.

is that 120,000 miles on the odometer or from the last IP pump replacement? My truck is inside of the 11year window but is 18,000 miles outside of the milage window....

120,000 miles on the clock.

If the dealer has replaced the Injector Pump under warranty it may not be recorded. However, the (manifold?) gasket would probably be replaced and the record of this part would be a matter of the service record. At least that was my experience when I inquired re my used truck service history at GMC.
Hope this helps

so how do you inquire about a service history? can any dealer pull up complete records on a vehicle?

All dealers keep very good records of what's been done to the truck. If you ask they should give you the vehicle history from day one. All you need is the VIN #.

i wonder if my truck would still be covered under warranty since i have made a few modifications. i know some dealers are pretty particular about it.
