: 6.5 fuel pressure

I have searched a little but can not find what the fuel pressure should be on my 6.5. I have installed a fuel pressure guage that has been reading 10-11 lbs on diesel or VO. Is that too much?

Thanks!

Seems high from other posts usually 5-7 psi at idle, drops to 0 at WOT for a moment and settles in at 1-3 psi cruising. 11-12 psi I don't think will hurt as there is a return to tank line. But I would wonder why it is high.

I have 3 psi at idle and cruise, and 0 psi when underheavy load. My pump used to do better. I'll probably put a Heath pump in soon.

Read feeding the beast mod by turbine doc. The DS pumps seems to tolerate upwards of 15-20 ish psi at inlet just fine. DB pumps are more finicky but I don't know specifics.

The factory LP usually does not supply that much pressure. Is your viscosity high or some other LP issue? Check flowrate at water drain and make sure you have good flow at idle. I would rather drive with 20 psi fuel pressure than 0 psi or negative pressure at inlet to IP.

At inlet to IP (electric autometer 15 psi guage) I get a bouncing reading depending on throttle and load. High of 6-7, normally 4-5, low of 1-2 psi. It sometimes bounces over 2 psi range.
