The left tail light and the side marker lights go off intermittenly or won't come on. I have checked every wire that I can see at the rear where the trailer light connectors and tail light wires seem to split going to the left and right side. I have found nothing to make the light go on or off. I did move some wires at the fuse panel under the hood and they went off and then back on. After I remove the power/fuse block cover I could not duplicate it again. This is driving me nuts. I check them and they work and then I start to drive off and they don't work or they go off later. I check them again and they are off.

Has anyone had this problem and if so where did you locate the problem? It is only the left side but I was wondering if there is a possibility that the switch could be a problem?

The side markers wiring doesn't seem to come from the split at the back so where is the power for the right tail light and side markers coming from. If I am not mistaken the first time the tail light was found to be out the side markers were on but I can't prove that now.

I am baffled. Help!!!!!

I have the exact same problem on the right rear. Did you ever find the solution. I haven't as of yet!

The answer is yes and no. I have a relay that is used to turn the trailer lights on and off. I was checking the wiring up at the electrical junction under the hood. I wiggled wires and the lights went of and I wiggled and they came on. I wiggled them again trying to pin it down and they never went off again and worked right ever since.

I donot think that had anything to do with the left light only going off and on since those wire split at the rear of the truck. I never did get them to go off again by moving every harness at the rear. I don't have a clue what transpired but they are working and have been ever since that day weeks ago.

My suggestion is to locate the harness at the rear where the lights split to L and R sides and see if there is a short or break. I don't have any other answer.

My right rear tail light, sidemarker and license plate light go off and on at random. I check them at all times of the day. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Same results after checking and wiggling all the connections. I just hope they work when the truck is in for state inspection. I can't afford to have a mechanic spend the time trouble shooting an intermittant problem. Thanks for your input.

I had the same problem with my 05, got pulled over for it too.:mad: It ended up being the relay and harness in mine.

I got pulled over also. That's when I knew there was a problem but I thought a bulb was bad at first.

Dmaxdon.....Which relay and harness was the problem with yours?

It was a while ago and I don't have the recept or the truck anymore. I think it ended up being the drivers side harness but I'm not sure about the relay. Sorry I wish I could be more helpfull. I may still have the recept somewhere but I think I threw it out when I got rid of the truck. I'll look though.
