Kind of a simple question but how much is too much for an lb7 ? I believe my current tune peaks around 31* Do you guys take some out for nitrous ? How about if using water/meth ?

I have a LBZ but I wouldnt go anywere near that high ;)

Have you logged it to see how close it is to the 50/50 rule of thumb?

Search the 50/50 rule or rule or something like that. There is a pretty good post in the EFI live section. Might also be rolled up into one of ther stickies

ok so if 31 is too much what is a number not to go over ? 20, 25, ? i see guys saying don't go over 50 total with pilot, and the max timing is set to 40 maybe i'm a little confused?

If it's a big fueling tune on a single cp3 were rail pressures are down around 19500-21000 I run 25-28 but this is in the upper rpm and mm3 rates. (LB7) Maybe the LBZ guys can run a little less timing due to increased rail pressure they might be able to get the fuel in a little faster if rail pressure could be maintained. Remember this is me others or your results may vary. :D

Do you have dyno, track, or accelerometer (Gtech) access?

If so, start in the low 20's and work your way up to see what works. You're not using N20 and H2O/meth simultaneously are you?

That is what I've done. I run back to back tests at the track only adjusting timing. I start low and run it up high. I find where there isn't much gain and then back it down a couple degrees. Many programs and tunes have too much timing IMO.

Big timing might produce the best HP and track times for sales purposes, but I won't run them.

My LLY ran 11's with 27* max. My LBZ is a bit different.

I'm headed to the track sat. no i haven't used both water/met and n2o togeher in this truck yet, but i did all the time in my powder joke. it made great power for what it was. i know i can run it and add timing till it flattens out but sometimes that much timing is more than is good for the engine thats more what i'm looking for when does detonation become an issue ?

Well i went to the track and should have stayed home. air temp was 102* all day baro press. was 29.4. first pass went 13.041@100, 1.89 60', second pass tried to roll in the throttle to calm downt the launch and added a little timing went 13.08@101.56, 2.01 60', third added a little more timing and fuel went 12.92@102.07, 1.90 60'. ithink it's still falling off on the top like i need to shorten the pulse width so the cp3 can keep up.?

Did you log your passes? what was the actfrp? ~27deg@3000ms works pretty good for me. what rpm/boost are you leaving at? was that with NOS?

Sorry for all the questions, and congrats on the 12's.

Unfortunately i didn't log the run, other runs on the highway actfrp stays around 21000 and on the top end falls a little to about 18,500-19,000. i left with 10lbs at 2000 rpms and yes sadly that was with the spray.
