My wife has a 2007 Tahoe with the displacement on demand motor. Overall, the mileage is not that great at around 16mpg. I was wondering if anyone is running and of the chips or turners on their Tahoe? What kind of mileage do you get.

It actually has pretty good power and tows pretty good. She certainly doesn't care about more power, but complains about mileage.

Thanks!

On the highway I average between 17.5-20mpg...depending on traffice..etc....I run a airaid intake, magnaflow exhaust, and an Edge evolution...truck is also 2" lower in the front and 3" lower out back, along with a shaved roof rack...all has shown some improvements in mileage...and the engine bolt-ons have made a significant improvement in power...oh and this is with a 4.10 rear.

She doesn't do a lot of highway travel and when we do, it was towing an atv trailer or boat and pulling some pretty good grades. Too hard to tell what it was doing on the highway, but my buddy said he doesn't get much more with his Suburban and he does a lot of highway miles.

I guess I will do some pricing and see what happens with the tuner. I guess the worst thing that could happen is I get more power and similar mileage.

My wife has an 07 Avalanche and gets around 16 driving i would say 50% highway 50% city. In stock form that is.

I have an 07 Tahoe. It has the 20" stock wheels and 3.73 gears. It is gutless off the start and gets poor fuel economy. Is there any upgrades or tunes that will get better fuel economy? It also has the displacement on demand, I dont really see any fuel savings with this feature. It would be nice to be able to program this feature in to staying on longer or being able to control this myself. I would only use something like this on the highway not towing a load of coarse. Any help with this is greatly appreciated

I've got an 07 Denali with the 6.2liter v8. its not DOD but it hauls for a suv and seems to get about 15-16mpg around town. it does have a 6 speed tranny but i thought the DOD engines were supposed to do much better.

I don't have one, but several people I know with them say the DOD has alot to do with driver and terrain. They say you have to drive carefully to keep it in 4 cylinder mode and get good mileage. A headwind, grade, or going to fast forces it to use all 8 cylinders. There are so many factors that it has alot to do with the driver.

I just tuned an '07 Tahoe and the customer seemed very pleased with the increase in torque off idle and shift adjustments among other changes. I asked him to share his experience here when he gets a chance.

Yes, I asked Nick if he had anything available for my girlfriends 07' Tahoe and he was able to write a very nice ECM and tranny tune. It has a lot better bottom end torque and it still pulls very good in the mid-top end. I haven't had the chance to hand calculate the mileage but on the DIC the instant mileage is up from before but I don't always think that it is accurate, there is an improvement most definately though. I wasn't expecting to see that much of a difference in power and torque since it is a gasser and you usually can't get much out of them but I was impressed. btw it is equipped with the 3.42's I would recommend if you guys have EFI Live to give it a try.

So how much to get that tune installed? I am not real familiar with EFI Live, but figure I would spend reasonable $ to get better mileage. She could care less about power, but I like power so I guess I will take that too.

What are the numbers? Price, mileage gains, HP gains?

Thanks!

Axe, to run that tune you'd have to use EFILive V2 ($750). It's not cheap, but if you've considered going further with your Duramax I highly recommend it as you can tune both vehicles at no additional cost.

I don't have any Tahoe MPG numbers yet, and I doubt Jason has any intention of putting it on a dyno. Hopefully he will post up MPG's after he puts a few miles on it.

So for $750, I can get tunes for both my Duramax and my Tahoe? That wouldn't be a bad deal at all. In fact, if I could do my Ol' Man's 6.0 gasser, it would start to look like a bargain.

Tell me more!

By the way, I have Hypertech for sale now!

Yes you would be able to tune your Duramax and your Tahoe. Your Ol' Man's 6.0 would take another license @99 since EFI gives you 2 with your purchase and they would be used for your truck and tahoe
